He is 100% just an idiot. And exceptional as hell, But I wouldn't necessary call him stupid. I mean obviously he isn't the brightest of bulbs but I'm confident that he is aware how he's manipulating his family(or at least I suppose so) and being aware off all the troons on twitter pouring money without stopping and thinking about it for a second. This is a man in his mid 30's who has never done shit his entire life and always leeched on others without taking any responsibilities. Diana's mom and stepfather are technically the ones that enable her by letting her live rent-free in their home. Despite this kind gesture from her parents, Diana still calls them transphobic to raise money for her e-begging campaigns.

Even though Louis begs for money to buy food for a month (first priority!), he's been setting aside more and more money to get a drawing of his fursona.

One thing that always fascinated me about furries: no matter how poor they are, they always have money to give to someone to draw their shitty fursonas. This HAS to have something to do with a weak sense of self and/or Identity Politics. The fursona is all that matters because it IS who they truly are. Same with trans people. Not matter how poor, they always somehow manage to pay for hormones or SRS.
They either never had a sense of self to begin with (as in a Personality Disorder) or this new persona/delusion was developed by Identity Politics (brainwash). Or a little bit of both. Mentally ill people fall pray to cults more easily than emotionally stable people.

I always like to point to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs when I enter conjecture mode.

Ignoring his suicide baiting, which is clearly done selfishly for pity, Louis feels accomplished in his life, as he would seek to improve himself if he didn't. As a matter of fact, according to his Q&A's, he seems to expressly believe simply being alive is accomplishment enough. Thus the only thing left for him is his sense of self. Louis does nothing and his personality is nothing beyond being selfish, lazy, and greedy, a personality he most likely denies, thus not fulfilling his sense of self. Therefor his only means of attaining an identity is his fursona, which serves as an explanation as to why he so desperately tries to spend money on commission after commission for his fursona to be drawn.

By extension, this could explain why he regularly changes his alias and fursona. He may realize that he doesn't feel a sense of self yet, although he doesn't understand why. The real answer is that Louis refuses to strive for achieving whatever potential he has, but he instead believes that he is simply unsatisfied with his fursona identity due to him lacking the ability of metacognition (realizing why he thinks or feels the way he does). You're right, he doesn't seem to be of the autogynephilic/NPD variety. That's why I told him to go back to the psychiatrist. He may have BPD and not BD. That's nearly $9,000, you imbecile. Even assuming you meant 10 times, a top-of-the-line iPad is only about $500. If you're only going to use it for clicking the paint bucket tool and typing up My Little Pony ERP, you can get a refurbished one for dirt cheap, I can see an ocean of them online for less than $150.
