Groat is a furry fandom icon in his own way. Perpetual bad luck and minor drama, but his bad luck usually falls along the lines of claiming the t-shirt printers made too many of a product and he needs to sell them off or something like that. He's never played the pity angle to the extent Louis does and usually offers services like sketches or merch in exchange. Groat isn't well liked in the fandom these days because he's a loud conservative in a fandom where if you're not a socialist you're considered a nazi; but at least he's fun to hang out with. Can't say the same for Lou.
My guess is that Louis attacked one of Groat's friends, or Groat visited this forum and saw how much of an easy target Louis is that he decided to take a swipe at him for some recognition. And Louis, like that Pavlovian dog, responded exactly the way Groat wanted him to.
