On the one hand, Lou demonstrates yet again that he can't pick up on cues, jokes, implicit messages, read between the lines, etc. He literally takes everything literally. Smells 'tism-adjacent enough for me, although it might also be a severe lack of proper socialization. He definitely was one of those "weird" kids, confirmed by his own words.

Louie has never known actual hardship. He has lived a soft, comfortable life of privilege and has never had to work for anything he has. During the first six months of my marriage I was working two part-time jobs and my wife was working two part-time jobs, teaching in an after school program, and finishing up college. We were struggling hard and tried to get food stamps just to help get by. We were declined because we made something like $35 too much per month to qualify. So we had to get really creative with the little food we did have, making meals that could feed us once per day for three or four days, lots and LOTS of Ramen and mac 'n cheese...things like that. And during those six months we never ate out unless it was something like being invited out to dinner by parents with them offering to pay. But Louie? He's jobless and begs from others to get by (while likely hiding some income like TardBux), but he honestly doesn't see why there's a problem with him ordering take-out food several times a week when he's constantly pleading poverty. When you're fucking broke you just don't do that. You try to make every dollar count and whatever money you do have, even if it's just five bucks, last as long as possible. When you're really poor you don't say "Well, my needs are taken care of for today. Time spend the rest to buy my wants." No. You say "Well, my needs are taken care of for now and I still have some left over. Time to put it away to get my needs tomorrow or in case something unforseen comes up." That attitude of "OK, needs checked off. Time for fun shit instead of planning ahead." is why people are sick and tired of his shit.
So, Louie is basically admitting that everything we criticize him for is absolutely true. He obviously believes that's not the case, but people reading that list isn't going to see it his way. This is not how you convince people that you're an honest person who is honestly in need. This is not how you get people to side with you and see things your way.
