This may be harsh, but allow me to offer a comparison (apt or not) :

Let's say you have a friend who is into drugs. Hardcore drugs. Drugs that are ruining their life. And they ask you for money for "food, rent, a few essentials, a few needs."

And then they go and spend their money on drugs.

So, they ask you again "I swear, this money will be spent on food, rent, utilities...things I need."

And they go out and use that money on more drugs.

Eventually, you stop enabling that person - for both your own mental health and to teach them that you cannot be used in that way. Even if you love them, there comes a time when you have to say 'no'. You realize that without showing you some real, serious change for a long period of time (to prove they have the will power and desire to do it), you cannot give them money. And even when they do show that improvement, you would be perfectly within your right to ask for receipts to the items they purchased to prove that's what the money was spent on, or even to buy it for them, or go with them to buy it.

That's how I feel about Lou at this point. And I know it may be harsh.

That is absolutely applicable. As pointed out just earlier, Louis treats buying pointless electronic doodads as an addiction. He cannot go any stretch of time without buying a new one, and dips into literal withdrawal symptoms when he hasn't bought something in a while. While it certainly isn't as extreme as a drug addiction, it's an addiction all the same and should be treated as such.

If a guy has a cocaine addiction, they'll tell you anything for you to pay for them. They'll say it makes them function properly, or they won't ask again, or it's important right now. Louis says the exact same things when asking for a brand new iPad. He needs it so he can "work" on commissions he doesn't get anyway, or that this is the last time forever, or he has to get it because it's a millimeter bigger than his last one and it's important because his vision may get worse if he continues to do nothing to change it. You'd just be seen as an enabler rather than a helper if you paid for a cocaine habit, so why would you think you're being bold and supportive when you're funding Louis's buying habit?

I did a little digging around Lou's Chitter account, just to see if he'd been posting anything interesting over there. Turns out, there was a juicy tidbit around Christmas. The whole "future-proofing my eyes" excuse that he used for the iPad Mini 4? Yeah, he used that same bullshit to grift for the iPad 8 that he got. Literally the exact same excuse. AND he cited the accessibility settings.

Him mentioning the accessibility options is a more damning statement than Louis seems to realize. Because he said this, he confirmed he knows how to make the text and element sizes bigger, making a slightly bigger screen completely pointless on a future grift.
