The minimum wage isn't intended to provide an income that you can raise a family on. It's intended for high school kids to learn a work ethic and basic financial skills to get them ready to be adults, or as a part time second job to make a little extra spending cash. McDonald's is not a fucking career. There are plenty of jobs out there that pay $15/hr where you don't need a college degree or specialized skills. Why do these retards think that raising the minimum wage will fix any of the problems we face today? All it will do is drive the price of everything up because the big corporations will see they can charge more for goods and services since everyone is making more money.

Yeah, and Social Security was originally intended to be temporary and terminated once the economy and job markets stabilized. Things change and now minimum wage jobs are no longer intended to provide a living wage for an adult to support a family on. Our economy and job market is such that there are several jobs that are still essentially entry level that provide a higher income than minimum wage. Even burger flipping pays higher than minimum wage these days.
