I think as time goes on we might hear about folks misdiagnosed with fibro only to find out years later it was something else that didn’t get diagnosed properly due to testing not being up to it yet or due to a lack of curiousity in physicians plus good ol’ fashioned malingering.

I was originally diagnosed with Fibro but it turns out that it was Systematic Lupus all along - after extensive testing. Fibromyalgia is an odd thing. I think it's a medical diagnoses to blanket an undiagnosed disease/disorder a person may be suffering from. And because of that we have Munchies that have basically stolen that blanket because it is hard to pin-point just what the fuck is going on - therefore its a little hard to say "NO YOU DON'T HAVE THAT" people tend to just go "Oh, ok."

Does that make sense? Either way it pisses me off that the Munchies have done that. Because there is validity to genuine "Fibro" diagnosis. And its frustrating - because people lump the legitimate sufferers from undiagnosed conditions with Munchies.

More often than not, Fakermyalgia, when it is truly diagnosed, is a co-morbid and not Fakermyalgia in and of itself. For example, a woman who has had several bouts of cancer (it happens), is over the age of 40, has injuries either from extensive testing and/or stress on the body due to their LEGITAMATE disabilities will often have a doctor diagnose them with Fakermyalgia. Often because--again--co-morbidity and possibly difficult to pin down a cause of the chronic pain.

Also: Notice that on TV, pharmeceutical companies have advertised for Fakermyalgia. Years ago, it was actually illegal per the FTC to advertise perscription drugs like fast food extra value meals. Then the statute ran out, and big Pharma won. The mindset (and it should've been left this way) was that the DOCTOR--not you, the patient--diagnoses you and prescribes the APPROPRIATE medication. After all, the doctor went to Med School and did residency for many, many years. They know better--not some tattooed "cripple punk" malingering attention whore who is in grave danger of being asked to apply for--and keep--a basic job.
Tumblr is not solely responsible for the self-DX-ing and malingering. When the idiot box is asking several times a day for you to pester your doctor to see if _________ is right for you, what did people think would happen?

Lol, no it one of those giant old stereo cabinets from 1960-1970’s that you can’t give away now a days. They are a staple of curb side pick-ups because many charity stores don’t even want them anymore. They are huge and the stereo components in most are toast because they haven’t made replacement components for decades. OTOH they are usually far better made than 99% of the furniture sold today so the old big boys have long out survived their usefulness.

We'll never know if Tai had "real" fibro, but as someone said above, they obviously did have some deep problems that they sadly saw no way out of. No one just hangs themselves for no reason.

I feel like Tai had the life that Luna wished she had. Tai was an accomplished artist and advocate. Lurch is home now. It's unclear if he was arrested in the first place since no one could find a record of it but it's possible he was tossed into a holding cell overnight for being an asshole then released without charges. Those are pretty common in the world of policing.

Scottish patient is convinced that Vit D deficiency is the root of all MS. They truly believe that they have MS because they grew up in the highlands. Swears their MS is in remission because they take 10,000 units of Vit D daily.
Meanwhile I’m just shocked that my Puerto Rican patient doesn’t have skin cancer from all the sun exposure they got. This person can barely move because the MS is so bad.
It is lost upon the Scottish patient that with different types of MS (relapsing vs. progressive, for example) some treatments just don’t work.

TL;DR Pumping Vitamin D into a patient is a great way to weed out the bullshit.

I just went back and watched the mom relocation clip in the top quote. It seems they are just hiding in the bedroom as that is the same floor tile in the pic as the video. So, having to guess, this is their shit that hasn't been tossed yet.

Happened to someone I know. She was diagnosed with that. Later on got disgnosed with a pretty aggressive form of cancer. So while she had fibro as a diagnoses maybe those were just very early signs of the cancer that went undetected.

Stomach ulcer at 13, multiple joint dislocations, easy bruising, severe pain all the years I worked retail, anxiety and depression uncontrollable with medication/therapy, and dizziness/fainting spells, I've been pumped full of iron, vitamin D, and protonix off and on my entire life to no effect. I am in my 30s and after many many tests, physical therapists, doctors, and specialists I was diagnosed with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). I'm two months out from contracting a mild case of COVID and now I've also got long-COVID. Before COVID I could push through bad days and just deal with most of the issues even if they were slowly getting worse over the last two years, but since COVID all of my symptoms have worsened to the point of me being almost disabled. I'm on medications for the fibro and POTS and do physical therapy for the HEDS, but my doctors think that COVID started a rapid decline for me.
