This is a response to a lot of the complaining that I've heard about threads like Autphag's and Tommy Tooter, namely that when a particular kind of lolcow shows up all discussion in a thread stops and it becomes a 500+ page clusterfuck.
I propose something similar to what we did with Sluthate and Marijan, in that we keep the main thread a Discussion thread for content gathering, so new information isn't lost under 10000 posts of "julaay". However, when a particularly shitposty cow shows up, we make a new thread in Autism Thunderdome for them to chimp out in. This keeps the main thread clear and provides a way to get amusing reactions from them. I think this would go a long way towards preventing insane clusterfucks of threads like Autphag's, where it's difficult to get new content because of the shitposting.

Like with a lot of things, you need to also look at things holistically. Sometimes this method could work for like Faye Kane and other times, it might be easier just to have one thread depending on how much of a thread revolves around having the "star" of it make shitposts.

I think this is more of a culture thing, if we start priorities on good than on Senpai or Ratebait we wouldn't have 500 pages.

How about for threads like these there is a chatbox with archiving turned on at the bottom of the page? That way the best parts could be taken from the chatbox and posted in the thread.

imo this seems like enabling poor community behavior. If a user is being a ween or going leaps and bounds to get a lolcow's attention, they should just be threadbanned.

I like the idea. A thread really does become ruined when a cow with too much time on their hands comes in and 10 weens drag them out for hundreds of pages. It's very mundane content and I'd just like to see what gets dug up about their past rather than how much they can chimp out. We've had a few threads like Autphag's in the past and I just completely lose interest in the whole thing.

I see Pepsi's point, but I also wouldn't know what you'd do about that. Threadban people for responding to a cow at all? Why not just ban the cow themselves then? Unless you threadban them but give them another thread to chimp out in, which is what Randall's suggesting.

It wouldn't change much at all, it would just disallow threads like Autphag's and Marijin (or whatever his name is, I can't even remember anything about him after his thread exploded, all I know is I want 4Macie to get raped and murdered in prison for helping string that thread out for so long) from exploding into 800 goddamn pages of nothing. It's really unorganized and chaotic and I think it should be straightened out a little more, it's really not in the spirit of the website's organizational habits.

The thing is, cow spergouts and interactions woth users do generate content. It's just buried under 50 pages of shitposts. The way I see it, the main thread will be able to provide a summary of a lolcow's craziness, without the massive amount of lolcow sperging and weening. Essentially a discussion thread and highlights reel.

With some cows i woukd actually favour a ban. I havent pushed for it as users seem to enjoy the autphag thread but i will point out last time he was unable to post here he got so frustrated and assblasted he ended up getting committed.

Having one sub with threads where they chimp and another thread in lolcow which they are banned from would work well imo. Even better if they could not see the second thread.

We've done it before for that Girl Brain woman and it worked well. I think there's enough threads that merit a shitflinging-only thread that a subforum to house them all in might be justified.
