A suspect has been arrested after a five-year-old boy was reportedly thrown from the third floor of the Mall of America in Minnesota.

One man told the New York Daily News he saw the immediate aftermath of the incident and that the child was lying “motionless...in a pool of blood.”

In a press conference outside the mall, Bloomington Police Chief Jeff Potts said that authorities arrested a 24-year-old man they believe threw or pushed the boy and that he does not appear to have any connection to the boy or his mother.

“Our officers initially responded and performed first aid on the child along with some other witnesses and passersby,” Potts said. “The child did suffer significant injuries.”

The boy was taken to Children’s Minnesota hospital in Minneapolis with his mother, but his condition, at this point, is not known.

I really fucking hope this poor kid makes it. What the hell?!

Given its Minneapolis, do we have another Somali situation on our hands?
Wasn't a Somali, just a run of the mill black guy. He's famous for throwing shit off Mall of America balconies which has already gotten him banned from the mall before

That portion of the mall got taped off yesterday and the lightrail got stopped for an hour and a half because the guy tried to escape by lightrail. (There is a lightrail station in the basement of Mall of America.)

I think you are all missing the most important aspect of this case:

Was the kid black?

I remember when the Mall of Memphis used to be nicknamed the Mall of Murder
Hell Greenspoint Mall in Houston is called gunpoints especially after a sheriff deputy got kidnapped and murdered there in the 90s.

No news on the kid unfortunately

Calling it now, this guy has crazy eyes.
Judging by the homework from his college classes posted online and by his resume as posted on LinkedIn it seems he's perhaps of below average intelligence. Not crazy, just a dim with a long history of violence and poor self control.

Update - nope.

Blue Twitter checkmark sweatin'
So not just white, but blonde blue-eyed white-devil white. Before the attempted murder if someone were to post that photo on Twitter, especially if you posted the photo with him and his family, you can bet multiple people would reply, 'that's just way too white for me' or 'look at that budding school shooter'. He may walk away from this with only a token slapping yet.

This perps former employment seems to be particularly interesting as well. Really should have done better networking.

Apparently the Mall of America isn't doing too well because it's too big to accommodate what's remaining from the retail apocalypse, and the space ends up being filled with flea market-tier stores and tourist traps. Rabid packs of bulbheads don't help, too.
It's been hurting for years as traditional retail outlets have all died off as specialty stores went online, and all those holes can't be replaced. And it's not just traditional mall filler storefronts like Electronics Botique, Kay-Bee, Radio Shack, B Dalton or Spencers either, we're talking the anchors like Sears and JCPenny going defunct.

The mall just isn't viable anymore, not as a standalone commercial box in what used to be a farm field anyway, they still are viable in urban areas where they're incorporated into some kind of dedicated shopping district, but, the mall as Americans knew it in the 80's and 90's of the atrium-and-food-court variety is rapidly going away as vacancy, low-end tenants and becoming hangouts for gangs and mentally ill folks are eating away those that are trying to hang on. Rare is a mall these days that doesn't have a gang problem in the parking lot, or inside if they made the mistake of renting out space for the local food stamp office.

This could be the catalyst that ends M of A, it's definately going to result in them getting sued for a couple million they'd rather not have to fork out, at the least, so it certainly can't help.

That said, the dindu in question liked tossing things huh? Hope he enjoys the 30 years of tossed salads in the slammer he just earned.....

Reports are he had been banned from the mall. His prior arrests were routed to Mental Health services. It’s appears we have a known and feared free range schizo with a history of violent outbursts and destructive acts. His last arrest was smashing all the computers in the public library.

I’m not sure MofA will face much liability here? Unless there was some clear negligence of security? It’s hard to hold an individual or corporation liable for the criminal or psychotic acts of a third party. That’s what allthe victims of the Mandalay Bay shooting are similarly running into. The one question will be MofA already had this guy on their banned list. He had snuck on the property and was trespassing. How did he get in, how long was he there undetected by security. The bigger question is why he was on the streets at all given his apparent history.

I would imagine hundreds of people have been banned from MoA over the years for one thing or another, and highly doubt the mall cops have memorized every face on said list

Sadly, it doesn't matter.

Remember the autist who got mad he lost at the EA pro gaming expo and came back with a gun? Shot the place up? Despite the fact he showed no prior violence, and the mall it was being held at had a "no guns" policy, they still got sued.

It really doesn't matter these days, civil liability is such an abused tool that it's like musical chairs, someone drop dead on your property? Well, you're getting sued then....

Immigrants from Africa and Asia are the only people keeping these things alive.

That's why we had to get rid of our trampoline, and later above-ground pool, way back when.

Insurance finds out you own one of these or both? Price skyrockets.

Because even if you have a fence or at least a "no trespassing" sign in your yard, and neighborhood kids climb over/ignore the sign and get killed while you're away, you're getting sued and/or paying for hospital bills.

They’re saying the kid might live but has a very long road ahead of him for full recovery, whatever that may mean.

Imagine you’re 3 with your whole life ahead of you and some dindu randomly picks you up and throws you over a 3rd story balcony. It’s not just this dudes fault but liberals who did nothing to keep this asshole in jail or a psych ward. Who make it easier to prevent them from
Remaining locked up.
