A Florida man has told police that he broke a baby’s leg after he became upset about having to stop playing a video game to change its diaper.

According to the Citrus Daily, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Children and Families (DC) in Alachua County were notified that an infant had been injured and opened an investigation on Dec. 12.

The maternal grandmother of the child told investigators that she would normally feed the infant and 20-year-old Paul Anthony Lajeunesse would change the diaper afterward. She said that this was a part of their daily routine because Lajeunesse did not work.


The grandmother said that although she had given Lajeunesse instructions on how to properly change diapers, the child always cried, possibly because he was holding its legs to high.

At around 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 11, the grandmother asked Lajeunesse to change the diaper and he became angry because he had just started playing an Xbox video game, police wrote in an arrest report.

During an interview, Lajeunesse told a DCF investigator that he took the child into another room to change the diaper and heard a “pop” when he lifted its leg. After that, the child’s leg went limp.

In a subsequent interview, Lajeunesse said that he was not trying to break the infant’s leg, but he was upset because his Xbox game had been interrupted. And when he yanked up the child’s leg, it broke.

X-rays confirmed that the child’s leg was broken. It was released from the hospital with a waist cast after undergoing surgery.

Lajeunesse was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse. It was not immediately clear what his relationship with the child was.


He has also been ordered to stay away from the infant.

From what I'm reading Florida carries a minimum sentence of 10 years for aggravated child abuse. More if the person owns a gun, and if the gun is automatic. It can also increase up to 20 depending on how injured the person is.

And yes if he goes to prison most likely he'll be harassed or molested. People who abuse children get treated extremely poorly in prisons. (I remember in one documentary, one prisoner decapitated another when he heard it was rumored he was a pedophile. It turned out it wasn't true.)
