The thing with Manny and a lot of people who'll blackwash characters is that that they have a strange need for everything to read as the race, gender and sexuality of a character. Subtle character design choices will not be enough for them, even for characters like Luz who I think spoke some Spanish phrases and was clearly brown enough to appear Hispanic, these type of people need it to be extremely obvious to make them satisfied. Even if it accidently comes across as being mildly racist to anyone, they need this Hispanic character to have big full lips and curly hair so she can truly read as Hispanic. It speaks a lot about the possible fact they might have never actually spoken to or seen an actual person of color in their life to realize the traits they're putting on to make a character seem like the ethnicity that they are or to blackwash them are traits from minstrel shows or racist stereotyping.

Manny and people like him basically need stereotypical traits slapped on a character design for them to believe that the character fully looks like their race.

I wouldn't even call it racist, to me it just seems extremely insecure. Manny probably has sort of untreated complex about their own facial features and and channels it into a fixation over fictional characters facial features, but spending so much time thinking about what makes a fictional character/person "look hispanic" just fuels their bizarre hang-ups about their own face and body. We already know that Manny's actually black and not a white girl larper, just one who never post pictures of themselves- I figure this is all some "coping mechanism" where they just dig themselves further into a hateful little hole of projection and and self-image problems.

You know, I can appreciate the fact Manny is at the very least trying to do more highlights in his art. Even if at the most it's just the hair and eyes. It's still something more than the usual flat colors only. About that ArtFight drama, that literally what just happen with a few artists. ArtFight stalks users who post offsite ""problematic content"" aka art they find icky and banned users despite it wasn't in their ToS and rules. Those artists who were banned for fictional adult characters in taboo content where some of the ArtFight mods were call out for following artists who make underage and incest content.
