As dumb as Mapdark is at times, a broken clock is right twice a day. I'm not so sure what he's referring to that happened in 1999, but his point is sound; retards causing pervasive problems on a public platform are only going to further undo any type of general "fandom PR" that is collectively going on. It's always been that way though, for as long as I can recall, and I know that despite the warnings that he and other furs are giving out, Comedy Central will eventually find a group of attention whores who don't mind being effigies if it means they and their ratty suits get to be on TV for a minute.

There was also some uproar (or upmeow, whatever) when Anna in Wonderland, a show starring the ex-nun from the first series of Big Brother, sent her to California to meet various of the Big-Name Fans of the time, including a couple who went by Ursus and Wabbit. (Forgive the :powerlevel:: I knew them in their private, non-furry personae. Wabbit knit me a House Ravenclaw scarf, if that isn't the apex of nerd-dom right there. Both have sadly passed on, which will come as no surprise when you see how very large both of them were.) A guy who went by TygerCowboy (he used to wear assless chaps and other ADF-tier shockwear over his suit) showed Anna his collection of plushies, and she was just shocked, shocked, by how sex-oriented the fandom was.
