yeah, I guess I'm being optimistic. But in the last election, there were ~240m eligible voters, of which ~74m voted for Trump, ~81m voted for Biden, and ~85m didn't did give enough of a fuck.

As for the double-SSN thing, I admit that I'm making an assumption into the type of storage that each and every vote goes into. Basic database stuff - each and every ballot has to be tied to a list of valid SSNs, you cannot have two data entries which have identical SSN values, so-on.

As for what happens when you try to enter two votes for the same SSN, I don't know the exact process state by state. It's a form of ballot stuffing, Different states have different approaches to the idea of double voting, and I generally get the impression that the original ballot is the one that is accepted UNLESS it is challenged. Everything I've read about claims of it suggest that the votes challenging were made on election day (IE, each person only had the option to get one mail-in ballot, so there were not conflicting mail-in ballots), and the individual challenging the original vote was able to cast a provisional ballot.

I read those links and I didn't see anything there about that woman's concerns being addressed, only about the procedures each state is supposed to use for handling mail-in ballots.
