I personally am all for the complete decriminalization of marijuana possession, sale, growth and consumption provided everybody involved is 21 or older.

I also think that the Proud Boys and Antifa should smoke some bowls before going to their protests. Everybody would be too chill to engage in political violence then. They would share bags of Doritos and have a peaceful time. It would be like going to an epic party.

So many of society's problems could be solved with the complete decriminalization of Mary Jane. Prisons would be less crowded with non-violent offenders. People would be more chill with some THC in their system after a hard day at the office. If ISIS smoked weed, they would be too chill to commit heinous acts of violence. If BLM smoked weed, they would be too busy lighting up blunts instead of lighting up federal buildings. Weed has its uses.

Personally I dislike drug and alcohol use but I do agree that decriminalized marijuana (and maybe all drugs) is probably the best path forward. Making it illegal and putting people in jail hardly does anything to make them stop using it, anyway.

I disagree, I think it should be criminalized, just waaaaaay less severely. Just fine them like $10 a gram and confiscate it. I don't think the government should support any kind of mind altering substance just because it's supposed to look after the citizens and even if it's mostly harmless you are still poisoning yourself. I think the same of all drugs, just the harder it is the more they should fine. Definitely no prison time for possession, although dealing and smuggling are different matters.

The legalization of recreational use has its ups and downs depending on who you are. A lot of people have moved to my town after weed was legalized in Michigan, which is arguably a net positive for our small economy (last census we don't even have a pop. of 5,000) but at the same time a bunch of people filtering in so they can grow and smoke weed sets off quite a few hits of tribalistic xenophobia (despite the argument they'd arguably be chill dudes). Also certain parts of town FUCKING REEK of weed. However, out of most drugs, it's about on par with tobacco and alcohol.

I wish I could rate you dumb just for this line alone. So keeping alcohol legal purely on the basis of "human history" is the only drug we should allow? What about the endless evidence that alcohol can damage. It can kill. You shouldn't be driving high or drunk, but we even have evidence showing that it's technically safer to drive high when it's directly compared to alcohol intoxication. Marijuana too has been a part of human society since the discovery of agriculture, but people aren't getting violent at Hippie Hill because they're blazed off their asses.

The only problem I would have is being priced out of weed. The issue arises because you generally aren't allowed to distill spirits or grow your own tobacco, here. So, if the government takes over the manufacture and sale of weed (and why wouldn't they, it would be lucrative business opportunity) it may become so expensive that all I could afford is dirt weed that actually tastes like dirt.

I recall reading an article about California weed sales having so many fees and restrictions that Joe Pothead just kept hitting up the dealer anyway, since it was cheaper and more easily accessible.
