Anyone else playing Marvel Infinite? I just picked it up the other day. I played 3 (vanilla and Ultimate) from launch, and I was... Nervous, to say the least, regarding Infinite. So far, my concerns seem to be mostly misplaced. The roster is small, which is unfortunate, but the reduced team size mitigates the problem a bit. Mostly, the mechanics are GREAT. Tagging happens as quick as you can think, and this looks to be the most brokenly insane Marvel yet.

Capcpom looks to be doing the standard modern fighting game model - That is, somewhere between Killer Instinct and Dead or Alive 5. At least they have a better handle on it this time, having learned hard lessons from Street Fighter 5. Story and arcade are both standard, and the characters I'm missing from the roster are another $30 and six months of waiting. The only reason I'm not salty is because I paid $5 a pop for Jill and Shuma six years ago, and I'm happy with no inflation + more characters. With any luck, the 'Infinite' name will be prophetic, and we'll have many seasons to follow. Give me Amaterasu and Gene, you Clover-killing fucks. I will make it worth your while.

Seriously, though, this is a comfy game. It gets crazy, but only because you can do most anything you can think of. This is gonna be a crazy year for vs. fans, with Marvel leading the charge ahead of Dragonball FighterZ and Blazblue Cross Tag Battle, and so far Marvel has put in a strong showing.

I knew I liked you, @Ntwadumela

Amaterasu was my trump card, capable of pulling me out of any bind. My win rate has taken a major hit without her or Shuma to go nuts with. But, this is apparently how fighting games are done now. A small launch roster, and 'seasons' for as long as people will pay. If anyone at Capcom has any sense, they'll put ammy and joe out soon. Hopefully in a pack with Gene, while I'm dreaming of possibilities.

Speaking of Wolverine, though, you should check out the Black Panther trailer that just came out. He's got Berserker Barrage, at least.

Awesome

I'd be interested in Black Panther TBH, but there's no second character for me to build a full team with.
I'll have to wait.

Perhaps if Okami HD was announced earlier, Amaterasu would have had a better chance. Though to be quite frank, even if the gameplay seems fun, this game just reeks of low budget rush job.

Oh, it totally is. That gameplay is really fun, though. A low-budget rush job is okay if the game comes together, and it's kind of a series staple for the games that have always been a patchwork of old assets.

I don't mind admitting that MvC has me by the short hairs and I was gonna spend the money no matter what, but I'm happy to find myself feeling relieved and grudgingly optimistic for future DLC.

Also another thing to note, they removed fight money from this game, meaning you have no choice but to willingly fork out money for extra content, as opposed to just grinding out fight money in SFV to get it for free.

Believe it or not but the gameplay is good. The graphics are shitty and I don't have any idea why they thought that's a good idea. This could have easily been a big success.

At least we don't have to deal with sjw Marvel Characters like America Chavez or some other shitty character sperging about homos and pronouns. Even Captain Marvel looks like an actual woman and Captain america isn't a Nazi.

Thank goodness Tekken 7 actually has a proper roster.

LMAO proper rosters! Capcom and SJW-Marvel want DLC money.

It's not Capcoms fault that there are no X-men and characters like Dr. Doom tho. But it's their fault that the graphics look like the game is from 2011.

Anything from Qanba if you want pc/ps4 compatibility.
Doesn't the Razer Panthera have drivers to work on pc now too? Hori does too I think. I only ask because I'm reasonably familiar with both of those companies' other products and that their fightsticks use different parts.

Can't speak to other brands, but I have a Qanba Q4. It's a ps3/360/pc stick (though I tend to use 360 mode for pc), and it's always been a delight. Heavy enough to stay put, incredibly easy to teardown, clean, and rebuild, and all parts are cleanly laid out. Someday I'll get custom art for it, balltop and plate both. If I ever get a new stick, it'll be one of Qanba's high-end ones, an Obsidian or Dragon, or whatever is the new hotness when that day comes.

I realized there's a Wesker-shaped hole in my life, but I'm making do. Strider and Gamora are fucking brutal, but they're both seem kinda glassy, so I make or break my matches in seconds. My old B-team in Marvel 3, Hulk Squad, has made a resurgence. There, the team was Chris/Hulk/Phoenix Wright, but Wright was always kind of an extraneous 'Gotcha!' character, and now he's gone. I'm still rewiring the controls in my head, but combos are happening sometimes! I feel like I did after a month or two of Marvel 3 play, and I was basically a raw scrub back then, so that's not terrible progress.

It's fun online until you play against the Japanese guy who plays 24-7.

But none the less, good to hear you're getting your moneys worth.

I have the advantage of a (microscopically small) local scene, so I never play online. Can't wrap my head around the delay at all, and it fucks me up for an hour afterward.

I dropped Strider for Dormammu as Gamora's partner, to supplement range options a bit. Dorm, along with a few other Marvel 3 alums, has a weird trait where his special moves still work like they did before - That is, he has a light/medium/heavy version of a move keyed to square, triangle, and circle - but his normals are moved around to accommodate the new control layout. I feel like my muscle memory is a handicap at this point. It would be fine if everything was changed, but this half-and-half shit will be the death of me.

I personally can't - in good conscience - shell out for Shekels vs. Functions: Infinite after the wave of incompetence that led up to its release. Telling your audience that most fans don't remember the X-Men anyway, that you should be okay with characters being cannibalized and having their moves recycled into lamer replacements, that leaked corporate video where they plan to siphon money out of the community by making anyone who wants to host an MvCI tournament or stream their game has to get Capcom's approval and pay them, and that's saying nothing about post-release.

Capcom's been dropping the ball a lot lately, and so far MvCI sales have supposedly been tanking hard as a result. It's probably because they thought they had a golden egg that couldn't be tarnished (one composed of two of the biggest company names in their respective entertainment mediums AND already had a huge reputation in the FGC), and it's honestly a shame since I was looking forward to jumping on after MvC3.

Doesn't the Razer Panthera have drivers to work on pc now too? Hori does too I think. I only ask because I'm reasonably familiar with both of those companies' other products and that their fightsticks use different parts.

I recently bought a Panthera, but I wouldn't be able to give you an answer for that since I play on the PS4. It's a great stick if you don't mind the Razer logo or a shorter length; choice came down between it and the Qanba Obsidian.

From what I've seen the game has great mechanics that let you get creative, but suffers because of the presentation and roster. I'll probably get it sooner or later, but I'll most likely wait for some definite edition with all the DLC character added.
