Danny "Iron Fist" Rand is still flat and boring. They do set up Daredevil season three though.
He was slightly improved from his own show but he still is the weakest member of the defenders. You think if they were going to make Iron Fist the center of the Defenders they'd make sure he and his show weren't awful.

Why would they attempt to make a semi-emotional death scene with Matt and Elektra if they ended up keeping him alive?

I get it, he's a major character and a fan-favorite, but if you wanna kill someone, at least stick by it. Don't pussy out by just resurrecting them 7 minutes after their "death".

They're probably adapting Daredevil: Born Again for Season 3.

Let's start out with the fact that Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are a hot mess of Social Justice placating, shat out by bald, illiterate cuck Brian Michael Bendis. Yeah, yeah we get Luke Cage is bulletproof and "doan wanna hurr nobuddy." Yeah, yeah we get Jessica Jones is soooooo independant and a drunkard because that makes her super edgy and kewl, grrrl power, blah blah blah. Both are strong and both don't do shit. They are a major reason why this first Season is SO FUCKING BORING.

Add to that, they need to write it in that Danny Rand has autism because I don't know anyone who is raised in China for the last decade doesn't at least lose their original accent and develop a new one, nevermind he literally has to tell everyone he's the Immortal Iron Fist and speaks in absolutes.

Daredevil is the only one still worth a damn but they even managed to fuck that up. 2 Seasons of "We haff teh BRACK SCRY" and literally nothing cool happens. Just a bunch of really old faggots upset the last of their "eternity juice" is all gone and spent episode after episode lamenting this fact.

Way to go, Jeph Loeb. You can't get anymore anti-climactic than a building collapse. The Defenders should've fought way more.

Luke Cage lecturing Iron Fist on being born with privilege seemed a bit on the nose. I rolled my eyes since they were talking about him being a billionaire but now apparently that's known as "The White Privledge" scene.

You know what I like about The Defenders?

The chinamen. The movies can't have 'em because the Chinese are such big market, but the Netflix shows can. And in this show we got not just Madame Chin Chong being a female Fu Manchu, we got three chinamen (even if one is a beaner), and they even were subordinate to whitey! I've gotta give props to the showrunners for that.

I was gonna comment on this too. If Cage had instead talked to him about class privilege and not him being dat white rich boy, I think it could have been a far more interesting scene. I also point this out, because by the end, SJWisms like these seem to vanish. Honestly feels like they added this scene just to placate SJWs, especially after the backlash Iron Fist got over it's lead.
I didn't watch the entire series though, but it seemed fairly ok from what I've seen. (episodes 6 through 8 are the only ones I've seen 100% of)

Contained insufficient Punisher, with only a small post-credits teaser at the end.
If they wanted to do it better, they should have replaced the scenes without Punisher with scenes that instead contained Punisher, for those are the best scenes.

....Alright, fine, it was okay, and some of the bits were pretty good. I like the shaky group dynamic and the disconnect in their goals, and making Jones hesitant to get involved along with Murdock's secrecy and paranoia made for some cool drama, but the big "meh" for me here was the lack of a strong villain.

You can't start us off with a performance like Fisk taking people's heads off with car doors and then expect us to be satisfied when you peter out into a lukewarm "evil council" deal, especially not for the big team up series that we've been building towards. The comic book version of Electra is a bit too plot heavy of a character to transfer over to a miniseries well, Alexandra was just dull, and the rest were just repeats of shit we've seen already. As for the heroes, Danny Rand's dimwitted obliviousness kinda started to grate, Cage's idealism was bordering on preachy, and it felt like they rushed the ending.

I dunno, it wasn't terrible, but it feels more like a side show than a grand climax of what we've been building towards.

After years of buildup, the big team-up leaves us blankly saying, "Okay..."

  • There were three fight moves: punch, kick and slice.
  • The grittiness of the first three predecessor shows? Yeah, that would have been nice.
  • The wonderfully charismatic Madame Gao is reduced to self-consciously asking questions and never being on top of anything.
  • That epic conflict between Colleen and Bakuto? Uh... yeah... I guess we're supposed to care? It kind of ends with a whimper.
  • Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Marco Ramirez wrote a climax for Matt and Elektra's love-hate relationship. It's basically 50 lines that were drawn at random from a hat, as none of them complement each other and the scene is all over the place.
  • The big final fight with the same three fight moves has the worst soundtrack I've ever seen in a television series.
  • The true villain who is revealed once again is infinitely less interesting than the one we're led to believe is the big baddie.
  • The secondary sidekicks are all brought to the police station, to show how fun it would be if they interacted. Save for Foggy, it really only displays how underdeveloped and needless they can become.

Overall, it could have been better.

I liked it, but it was a bit underwhelming. It was basically Daredevil season 2.5 and Iron Fist season 1.5, taking the least interesting storyline--the Hand--from both. (Actually, none of Iron Fist's story threads were that interesting. The Hand was better than corporate Meachum bullshit.)

Why did Alexandra need the Black Sky? I feel like this is something extremely important that was completely left out. Maybe if they had more than eight episodes, this could have been explained.
