I'm convinced this is BioWare retconning reality to seem more woke. If the Jack romance was truly designed as an option available to females from the start, why didn't they get to the point of recording dialogue for her like they did with Mass Effect 1's romance options?

Mass Effect 2 was a completely pointless game due to the galaxy brain move of making the plot about assembling a badass crew and then allowing it to die in the final mission, meaning they can't be used since they are Schrödinger's characters.
Doesn't Mass Effect 2 have a bunch of bi romance options? Maybe someone with braincells told the devs that pansexuality isn't a real thing and they misinterpreted that as "cut the Jack romance!"

I still remember how, during GamerGate, GGers who were digging deep into some of that shit found that a bunch of different think tanks like DiGRA where people sat around theorizing on how to add more woke shit to games were behind the journos, and all these journalists shared the same mailing lists and parroted each other’s stories, etc.
There’s nothing organic about video game journalism. It’s suffused with propaganda pieces written by brainwashed college kids who often aren’t very good at games and would rather be doing literally anything else.
When you think about it, the gay romance options aren't really the most offensive thing about Mass Effect's romances. 3/4ths of them are interspecies romances, so the game promotes bestiality more than anything.

Wasn't the real issue coming from the Tumblr fans who wanted every character to have a gay option? I remember that it's what pushed Bioware to turn every squadmate bisexual in ME3.

Ashley is also a bi romance in 3. The whole virmire survivor romance in 3 always makes me laugh because if you romance them as the same gender it seems like they turn gay after a traumatic head injury
