I really love Mastodon/Fediverse/Activitypub for what it is, or the idea of it. Its issues however, echoes the 4chan exodus (the biggun), where people leaving popular social media for various reasons, be it too many rules or perceived oppresion now want to be the ones holding the whip. I've been on there for a few years on a backwater instance as a way to immerse myself in a foreign language essentially.
Gargon is, in my sparse interactions, not unlike my favorite lolcow DSP (and likely other cows) and it seems like he just cuts of interaction with people at the drop of a hat when they say or do things he does not like. "Why can't you make it so an individual user can block an instance if they so choose? Is that a feasible thing to implement?" uhhh....NO!
There are cool instances and shit ones. It's fun to follow or curate either. radical.town is good for just all sorts of stupid troon folk.
Freespeech extremist is an instance picking up steam as it is becoming inundated with jilted Gab paypigs, typically the younger folk.
The great thing is when I get sick of seeing all the gay virtue signalling shit you can just hit Local Timeline and it all disappears into a field of moon runes.
Edit: Oh, I saw on there kiwifarms started or is starting an instance? Sounded BS, the toots got deleted and I don't see any corresponding shit on here.
Some meth probably would've been a cheaper way than surgery for that specific look.
