Today I was browsing reddit as I normally do and found a thread where someone admitted she loved rubbing her clit on a playground spring toy through her clothes at four years old. That spawned an entire comment thread where a bunch of people confessed to childhood experiences with sexual stimulation in public, the most common being from climbing poles or ropes, along with typical stories about lying on the stomach or humping objects at home.

This made me deeply uncomfortable, like most things on reddit (I derive a masochistic pleasure from being disgusted at this point) but it has been known for a while and doctors reassure parents that it is normal for children to touch themselves. However, the prevalence isn't known and I'm getting a sinking feeling in my head that for children, who I idolize as innocent, they are the majority rather than the exception. This is an idea I am not okay with for some reason.

Personally even though I have a very good memory I have no recollection of masturbating as a child. I did rub my urethra and anus as a result of discomfort (my parents never taught me how to wipe properly and I had to learn it myself) but there was nothing stimulating about that, it was just an attempt to relieve the itchiness/wetness. Then again I do not masturbate even as an adult, so.

There was a kid I knew as child that was acting sexual when I met her around 8-10 years old, she came from a nasty and weird family though, and looking back on how she acted I suspect she was being sexually abused by her creepy uncle.

4 seems weird to me though, I remember vaguely getting an erection when i was like 6 or 7 but It wasn't really sexual, as I had zero desire to investigate it-if anything it was painful and scared me at the time.

took me till like late 14 to get interested in sex, but i'm a late ass bloomer and a guy.

I am in close contact with @Philosophy Zombie on a daily basis and can confirm that this post is entirely unironic.
My life is very ironic actually. Once I did lsd for like two weeks straight. I didn't think anything bad was going to happen, and it was a very spiritual experience, but in hindsight I think it fucked me up because I have trouble with long term memory now. I have trouble telling what in my past is real and what is confabulation sometimes.

The hell’s wrong with you?
Honestly I probably have some kind of disorder. I do take an SSRI, but started when I was 17 and I did not even before that. It just has never felt good to me.

I attempted to during that weeklong LSD trip seeing if anything different would happen, but it was just like if you bang your elbow on something and there is a throbbing sensation except with trails of light coming out.

The Phallic stage normally starts between 3-5, and doesn't occur in all children. If you didn't do it/don't remember it, that's entirely normal too. It's actually quite likely that they don't actually remember it themselves, and have just formed memories off of what people told them. (your memories are actually fairly subjective until about 7) Normally at the end of the phallic stage, a child will not continue the practice until puberty.

CHILDREN ARE NOT ASEXUAL.
It's so absurd to assume that a young person has zero interest in sexuality or that if they engage in sexual activities that it'll somehow warp their mind or ruin them forever.
I realize this is a difficult subject for the public to grasp at the moment, seeing as for many they can only understand childhood sexuality from the perspective of abuse or simple exploration.
Like it or not, children are sexual beings and desire sex and whether the most staunch anti-pedo out there dislikes this fact it won't change reality.
With all that said, I really don't see why any of this should make you feel uncomfortable and the very fact that you're browsing a thread like that to inflict some sort of sensual response in yourself shows that you have some sort of deep rooted psychological condition surrounding childhood sexuality ... hmmmmmmm

The Phallic stage is not sexual in the same way in which it is for adults. In laymen's terms, it's basically a developmental start up check. A child in that stage doesn't "desire sex," they're simply exploring the functions of their own body.
