Funniest thing about MatPat is that there are some legit-fuck games that have themes and stories and philosophies that you could talk and debate about because, when you get down to it, games are just another artistic medium. But Matt is basically retarded, so even when he talks about something other than the current 'Best game Evar' he fucks it up. His Binding Of Isaac video is a good example, he takes a very dense indie game with loads of lore and just tells the basic story that anyone who's into the game already knew. Then there's FNAF and Undertale, and while at least the latter has some stuff you could dig into it's still like babies first literary analysis and the former is like trying to explain shitty AU fanfiction.
It's like if you classified yourself as a film buff, a hyper-elite certified filmnigga, and you spent all of your time re-watching the MCU movies.

Remember when Matpat used to discuss if Companion Cubes contained the bodies of dead test subjects? Or whether or not the Leap of Faith in Assassin's Creed is a viable way of getting around without breaking your legs? Me too. Nowadays, I feel like he just defaults to whatever's popular and shits out whatever well-known theory is out there to claim as his own.

Remake of the first game theory episode with commentary by mat on how the channel has changed. I miss the old simpler editing but that is probably just nostalgia.
MatPat is being a smug prick... at himself. We've truly reached the ouroboros. And if it makes you happy, I genuinely miss the much older videos, in a way, Matt sounded a lot more genuine and less annoying in those.
Older videos had better theories that he didn't dig up in reddit and were mostly word of mouth.
Week old video but so stupid I had to bring it up. Another inane theory told smugly. Znyder has been pretty open about the dark future stuff in BvS and ZSJL, so matpat makes the jump that the whole snyder cut drama was a ploy by DC to set up this as the Josstice league created the dark future. He comes up with this timeline which makes no sense as both Josstice League and ZSJL pick up where BvS ended. Almost like WB fucked up hard and didn't actually do 4D chess.

Old news, though I do want to point out since people often fail to bring it up, the art and character he's mentioning isn't even loli. This means either he's purposefully making a slightly edgy joke or has no idea what the term actually means.
I figured it was just an edgy joke just surprised to see Mat make one like this with his modern youtube persona.
This happened a few months back but MatPat attempted to play Omori on GTLive. Fans of the game were immediately weary about him finding it and the inevitable comparisons to Undertale/Earthbound he would make (Omori is an rpg maker game). And well... of course he does. In the first five minutes alone he compares it to: undertale, earthbound, kingdom hearts, inside out(?), binding of issac(??).
If the comparisons weren’t enough during gameplay he gets into the tutorial fight and becomes visibly upset and confused by the game’s combat: Omori’s combat is heavily based on inflicting status effects on both opponents and your party in the form of emotions. Instead of playing the game as its instructing him to MattPat immediately ignores it and defaults into trying to Undertale pacifisting enemies which unnecessarily drags fights out.
Matt and his wife’s assessment of the game is that it’s combat system is literally emotional manipulation and goes against every message of kindness, compassion, and peaceful resolutions that every indie game promotes. So... he’s upset the not Undertale game doesn’t play like Undertale.
