I wonder where did he got those models. I mean they all are classic planes from the WWII era, not the kind of thing that would fancy Chris IMHO. Are those from the late Bob? was he into plamodels? Or were those little treasures Barb got a thrift store?

Its really sad that he is asking so much for them, with that money you could get the same item in a better condition that those water(?) damaged boxes.

And a really valuable COPY of a "Stradiuarius" violin, another treasure that survived the fire and the greedy firemen. I just love the many typos he made in the titles.

To be fair, he has appeared to have reduced his prices a bit. Now the models only cost a few dollars more than they did when brand new and complete and not damaged by fire and water and foot instead of twice as much. Probably worth merging into that thread.

In before pages of speculation on Chris reducing prices and violating his own no haggle policy.

Poor Chris if anyting he should put those things on auction and hope to get at least 5$ each and sale that shit without those usesless fire damaged boxes.

And where the hell did Barb got that violin, you can find somenthin like that in goodwill?

Is he selling them for his Lego wishlist? Because he is going to need more than that, or is Barb making him sell them for extra cash?

You have to remember Chris doesn't have a real good grasp (or any grasp really) on how valuable an object really is. To anybody not Chris, those model plane are barely worth a couple bucks, but to Chris they're worth hundreds of dollars.

Models typically have a terrible resale value. Most of them are going to depreciate as soon as you take them home, whether or not you open them or not. They're a very niche market and and nobody in their right mind is going to pay nearly full price for a water-soaked, stepped-on, smoke-damaged model of a World War II fighter plane when they can go down to Michael's and get nearly the exact same thing brand new.

Don't forget the greater than $10 shipping with each.

You can pick up used instruments at goodwill pretty cheap all the time as various kids realize they don't really like practising for junior high school band etc. An actual Strad (or even a "copy") at goodwill though? LOLno.

Some people make a tidy profit picking up used instruments, restoring them, and selling them on to music stores. I think it's more of a profitable hobby for them than and actual business though. Three guesses if Chris or Barb are one of them. That violin doesn't look in particularly good shape, and it would take a fool to buy an untested, uninspected violin over the interwebs for the same price you can get a good refurbished one from their local music shop.

Also the cheek of Chris calling that a Strad copy. Does he really think he's fooling anyone? That's just sad.

As someone who used to play a violin (albeit a rental) that bow looks like shit, seriously. he should have gone ahead and had the bow re-strong before he posted that for sale. A good violin can go for 1,000 dollars. My old roommate played the violin and had her own, and she said that it cost her 1,300 and that was a good price for a good violin.

Aside the bow, if this violin is in any sort of decent condition, then a couple of hundred bucks is a real bargain, but I would guess that unless this was a inheritance from one of Bob or Barb's parents (unlikely) it's a cheap violin that was made for non-serious violin players and possibly bought by Borb because they hoped their son was an autistic music savant?

My understanding is that unassembled models actually are collectible if they are old enough and from the right manufacturers.

That is in an waterlogged state of course...

Airfix sets can demand a lot of money these days.

Fucking Hell Chris, you really are a bonehead if you didn't keep that safe.
