I literally told a mate of mine to put one Xbox Series X to the side when the shop he works at gets them. I was looking into console gaming anyway, and now Xbox got me.
Well played.

Imagine being proud that everyone on the internet knows you're a cry baby that yanked his knob on stream and needs to scam children into paying his bills. Never change.

Jesus, he talks like he’s on an Internet forum in 2008. What’s with him calling people “kid?” Phil might as well say “Yeah I totally get pussy, you virgin loser lol.”

Yes, we get it Phil you’re a thirty eight year old man who plays video games for a living. Like other people have said I think I’ve met one person in real life, at a bar in passing conversation, who knew who darksydephil/DSP/Phil is.

People that run social media accounts even for big companies are just interns or entry level communication majors. Phil probably thinks the CEO is posting about him.

Sorry Phil, but just because some kid in Redmond knows who you are doesn't mean you are going to be getting a free Xbox or a real jahb at Microsoft anytime soon.

One thing that never ceases to fascinate me about Phil is that you can never totally determine how he'll react to stuff like this. I thought he was going to go into major damage control after he was caught jackin' it on stream, but he was surprisingly chill and even joked about it. Same here, I thought he'd maybe make a shitty little remark about it on stream, but he responds directly and laughs at himself a little.

Weird guy, even among lolcows.

in the beginning he denied it, tried to covering it up, and was banning people, he changed his tune when he realised noone believed his bs

Not really a Journo Mention but still kind of funny

It does raise a good argument though, if a retard like DSP can bumble his way through every FromSoftware game since Demon's Souls including Sekiro too where you can't grind and where you can't summon someone to carry your ass, as well as beating several similar games like Nioh and Nioh 2, what stops anyone else from doing the same? Especially if it's their job to do so? Especially since souls games have modular difficulty so if you're a turboautist 100% git gud elitist you can beat the game with only your fists on SL1 and if you're shitty you can grind levels on both your char and weapons until you break the wall you've hit that prompted you to grind in the first place.

But that's not really that DSP-related so I'll just leave it at that.

A games journalist's job is to write about video games, not beat them. There have been crystal clear examples of games writers not beating the games they play for decades. Journalists don't beat 50+ hour JRPGs before they file their bylines, and because of this DSP has a tremendous leg up on them because he can literally facetank any challenge until he finally succeeds because he doesn't have literally a single other thing going on in his life. He doesn't have children. He doesn't have a social life. He has zero obligations which cannot be satisfied on the internet at any time of day. The only person who places any obligations on him whatsoever is himself. Coma patients have more stressful and demanding lives than DSP.

It's worth noting that in most of the games you describe, you can grind in some respect. In Nioh, you can build up levels and unlock a bunch of abilities as well as getting more powerful equipment. Note that when Phil hit the cap on that (around level 150, I think), he could no longer progress when he needed skill to beat the DLC boss fights. In Sekiro, while there's not levels, there were upgrades for health and attack that could be found. In that case, Phil, as time went on, was very clearly reading guides, as evidenced by his decisions to "totally randomly" go around to places not on the beaten path that just happened to have those upgrades. He was also being fed exactly what to do to get the best ending.

As @Pargon pointed out, given enough time, most games can be eventually bumbled through. Most people just don't have enough free time to do so.
