Don't most authors try and write characters that are not total self inserts? It seems weird to gloat about "this character is literally me don't saw anything bad about her" But I can see that every single Flora character is literally PK except the ones that aren't and those ones end up being people's favorites because they're not huge dicks

Well, it's difficult for the author not to write a character that shares some of their characteristics, but it probably isn't on purpose.
But, yeah, PK only writes self-inserts, and she's (most likely) aware of that.

You are correct, most (decent) writers try to avoid self-insert. There are very few instances where it works, but many, many cases where it doesn't. Self-inserts usually only work if they quickly develop on a completely different track (Hermione Granger) or are very minor and have little to do with the plot (the Annoying Dog in Undertale).

A major reason self-insertion is so frowned upon is because of a lack of distance. If you base a character heavily on yourself and people start criticizing the character, unless you have extremely thick skin, you will take it personally. That lack of distance also makes it hard for most writers to "kill their darlings," which is to say, allowing them to do something in character, even if it's utterly retarded, and suffer all the consequences of their actions. Instead, they'll either appear to be reading the script or simply immune to their stupidity. This is incidentally why a lot of self-inserts can be classified as Mary Sues.

It also makes the author look like a dumbass, a sociopath, and/or some unholy abomination, since a character is based on how they would act in such circumstances. A few examples of self-inserts aside from the obvious (Chris in Sonichu) include Bella from Twilight being based on Meyer and the two main characters of the Left Behind series being based on the two authors. In both instances, they make incredibly stupid mistakes that have no consequences for them, are total assholes to nearly everyone, and have no respect for life that isn't of a category they deem "worthy" (Twilight's sacred cow being vampires and their toadies, Left Behind's sacred cow being people of a specific subset of Christianity).

The one thing that gets me with these two is they are designed differently than the Beleths. The Beleths are made to be sitting down, but the rapehorse pair seem to be standing on tiny legs which clearly won't support their weight. If anything, these plushes are just going to topple over under the weight of their large heads...

...unless they're made with heavy butts that allow them to sit or something.

You use poly pellets (or something else to give weight but these are the standard stuffing material, it's what gives beanie babies their weight and flop) to add weight at the bottom to counterbalance the big heads; they'd be put in the feet and, more notably, the tail (since that's the thing that would provide most of the counterbalance). Another thing that can be done to offset the awkward balance of top heavy plushes is using a foam core, as it's VERY light and still keeps the shape of the plush husk. However it leaves you with a very squishy plush, so if you wanted something with a more firm feel you're SOL.

Honestly that is kinda dumb, using fluff instead of beans. I had stuffed animals like that once.

But as for what I came here for, I'm gonna critique PK's work, and that what's happening. So first off.

And looks....overall very messy yet more contained that the comic itself.

I personally feel the colors if you look carefully actually don't flow very well.

You can even see a portal with and eye in it which I assume is a character of the antagonistic Typing, and the eye is supposed to look weird and mysterious but obviously that would only be true...if the characters weren't pink like the portal.

There is no contrast therefore it's very hard to pick up on. And obviously this was not the intent.

In terms of anatomy Min is way too big in comparison to Furfur, because Min if I remember was alot smaller that Furfur, small enough to perch on her heart horn.

As for critiquing that's what I have to say. I'll do the other pages later.

Also, look at the type of site you're on; all in all, you're lucky somebody gave you advice right off the bat rather than just giving you hell. A glance at any other thread here will show you people who have made the same mistake as you and been given shit for it. It's in the rules and there's a "Late" rating for a reason, for god's sake.

This is pretty normal for comics. The second method, she could actually expand her palette very quickly (since you shade 100% in black and white, then apply solid colors with a layer. It's very fast).

Let's hope she does.
