Recently there was a massive shitstorm on 4chan, reddit, and on the steam forums, because Deep Silver pulled the game from steam to instead be released on the Epic Games Store. Steam thread discussing it

Game comes out in a few hours, any kiwis excited to play it?

Metro is a great series, but yeah... I'm not crazy about downloading a new DRM platform to play Exodus. I'll get it cheap later.

Also, Metro has always differentiated itself from Stalker by being a linear, focused FPS. I assume it still will be, but setting it on the surface seems weird to me.

Eh, it's not that weird really. In a few metro books done by different authors, you had characters venture trough the surface and it did lend to very interesting adventures or encounters (specially books like Bellow Hell, Roots of Heaven)

seems better than Last light, which was incredibly on rails. Even 2033 felt better than that.
Dont care about Epic store but Im gonna buy it only when it has a huge price drop, so I'll give it 2 months max.

I will say, I do hope this retains the supernatural stuff like the previous Metro games did. That's something I liked about the franchise for having a mix of your typical post apocalypse with supernatural stuff, hell that's what made a good portion of the Metro spin off books more popular than the typical "Oh here's some dudes surviving/fighting in the post apocalypses world"

Yeah I'll wait a year for the game to go back on Steam or GoG. I don't even feel that compelled to hate Epic, it's just that between Steam, GOG, Ubisoft Store, Origin, Rockstar, Battle.Net, I'm tired of having to keep up with digital libraries.

Oh and I almost forgot about Bethesda having their own competing store. Doom Eternal better be a GOTY contender or they better make Prey 2 for me to buy.

I'm skipping exodus. Lots of other games I can play that don't require a launcher. By the time a year rolls around, Cyberpunk will be out. By the time I get to Exodus it'll be 20 bucks for it and all DLC. I've got plenty of choice. I'm not installing another launcher for what amounts to a cult classic.
