My sister who was in the air force said that a LOT of the people who were in basic training with her were active gang members and the only reason they were there was so that they could get the superior military training, serve the minimal amount of time necessary and then get out.I'm reminded of that episode of Deadliest Warrior that pitted the cartels against Somalian pirates. I think the pirates won. Was pretty funny.
But anyways, ISIS by far, it's not even close. ISIS at its peak was essentially a country with armed forces and far better funded too. Add in the lack of self-preservation via suicide bombs and human wave attacks and there's no comparison.
I sincerely doubt the average cartel gunman is much better trained in any way that would make a difference either.
