This past weekend in Los Angeles has seen protests over the death of George Floyd, as well as those calling for police reform and racial justice, continue throughout the city. Joining participants on Saturday in Century City was actor Michael B. Jordan. During a rousing speech, Jordan called upon Hollywood studios to rethink their hiring practices and welcome more Black artists and players into the fold, citing recent strides in gender parity as a model for what can be achieved.

The star of “Black Panther” and “Creed” appeared at the protest organized by the Big 4 agencies (ICM Partners, CAA, UTA, and WME), standing in solidarity with Black Lives Matter. In the film “Fruitvale Station,” Jordan played Oscar Grant, a man killed by police in Oakland, California on New Year’s Day 2009.

“I use my power to demand diversity, but it’s time the studios, the agencies, all these buildings that we’re standing in front of, I wish they would do the same,” Jordan said. “You committed to a 50/50 gender parity in 2020. Where is the challenge to commit to black hiring? Black content led by Black executives, Black consultants. Are you policing our storytelling as well? Let us bring our darkness to the light.”

Jordan called upon the agencies themselves to support Black culture. “The sneakers, sports, the comedic culture that you guys love so much, w’ve dealt with discrimination at very turn. Can you help fund Black brands?” he said. “A great agent doesn’t have to be a great agent could advocate for relationships with organizers.”

Michael B. Jordan most recently played Equal Justice Initiative founder Bryan Stevenson in the film “Just Mercy,” which distributor Warner Bros. is offering free for rental throughout June on VOD platforms as an educational tool to teach viewers about systemic racism. The film originally opened last Christmas in theaters.

Dozens of protests took place throughout Los Angeles on Saturday, with thousands of people calling for the end of racial injustice in the United States.

Michael should just create his own movie production company that hires mainly black people if he feels this strongly about it.
He could also just help finance Tyler Perry Studios, Harpo Productions, Monkeypaw, Bounce TV, or Aspire. (All I can think of off the top of my noggin. There are probably more black owned production companies than that, I just don't care to look them up.)
E- Fuck BET.

Shouldn't they...... earn it?
I'm sorry but, just like I'll never condemn somebody for the color of their skin, neither will I support them.
Jordan is a decent actor with charisma, he went through the same process as everybody else and now he's in the big leagues.
If he could do it, why can't the other black filmmakers do the same?

Yeah, that's code for "nobody is watching this crap so we can give it to these morons for free and get ally points."

The Hollywood matzah mafia isn't going to enjoy reading this. My condolences to Mr. Jordan when they end his career, may he slam dunk in heaven.

I use my power to demand diversity

That's the problem with blacks; they never do anything to earn it. "I exist, therefore I should get." All they want are freebies built off the backs of whites and thats why they don't get respect; petulant babies of society that look to whites as their daddies. If they didn't, they wouldn't "demand" things and they would actually do things. There are some outliers, but not many.

Why would you want more black people in a dying, pedophile infested industry completely lacking in creativity or innovation? Fuck Hollywood. make your own things and put them on the internet. Create your own institution and model it after the values you hold near and dear.
LOL

Values.

From black entertainers and their “community”.

The world and America is full of possibilities if you work hard. This sensationalism of racism especially with the George Floyd issue is getting out of control and more and more people keep pushing the "diversity" agenda. Black people aren't entitled to jack-diddly-oodly shit, as aren't we all. So to sit there and demand diversity at the cost of quality just makes you part of the problem. The more qualified/skilled/knowledgeable/apt individual should get the job regardless of their race. Makes no sense to push these stupid "diversity" agendas.

"I'm black therefore gibs" / "I'm woman therefore gibs" / "I'm minority therefore gibs" is such a retarded concept and racist in its own way, just like affirmative action in colleges where a lot of them don't measure up to the standards but "OOPS GOTTA GET DAT EXTRA-FUNDING SO JUST GRAB THE DARK-SKINNED PERSON", or the diversity hires pop up where they aren't qualified or even can't speak a lick of english and screw up their peers' work.

When will we finally start measuring people for their character and accomplishments instead of the color of their skin, gender, religion or place of birth? That's equality.

People keep mistaking supremacy and glorifying for equality. Makes one sick to the stomach.
