This guy was one of my biggest inspirations as a cartoonist. One of my art heroes. Was.

I'm actually genuinely upset by this. I adore his work, I mean he did chat a fair amount of shit too, and the Kickstarter thing was scummy, but as an artist I learned so much from him. Such a waste of talent.

I hope they throw the book at him.

If he hated Animaniacs and Tiny Toons cause they didn't emulate looney Toons, that's kinda fucked, since 1. Both were owned by Warner Bros. (Looney Toons IP holder) and 2. Regularly had cameos from Looney Toons characters (Hell, they were THE TEACHERS in tiny Toons.) both cartoons were also regularly broadcast on the same network in the 90's he was so close to getting Senpais attention, but failed by getting jealous of Senpais little sisters

Actually, he hates those because they were written by writers instead of animators, it's not in his own style (like every cartoon he shits on), and because he seems to think Stephen Spielberg is behind some kind of conspiracy to ruin animation (at least, from what I gather from all the times he shits on Spielberg).

He used the popularity of his show and his firing by Nick to pretty much make himself into an animation god/martyr, and until recently the majority of people have never realized he's full of shit. Since APC the mythology around him has died out, and this was the finishing blow.

I forgot to address this. John has had a VERY dedicated little cult of personality going on for over 10 years or so. A lot of animation purists worship the ground he walked on and espoused his opinions as fact. It got so bad that these guys would harass Billy West at conventions and shame him for staying on the show after John was fired and taking over the voice of Ren.

Billy later remarked that most of the Ren & Stimpy fan base were crazy because of John's cult of personality.

After this revelation I wonder what mental gymnastics these sycophants will use to propel John as the next Walt Disney (there's people actually believe this).

The way he drew the pony looks kind of like the pages of the comic I've seen posted on /co/ and other places, which is extremely ugly and seems like it has a lot of "lolsorandom" and the characters being dicks for no reason. In other words he probably likes it because he thinks it's trying to follow his style.

He was doing his job as a voice actor and would have had to find work elsewhere and John fucked the show over with his actions.

I'm sad to hear all this but I'm not surprised and, while I usually say let's not rush to judgment on extremely damaging allegations like this, in your heart, you know it's true. Every bit of it.

I'm usually in the wait for the rush to judgement camp as well, but John K's behaving extremely in appropriately to underaged girls has been well known for a while, I heard about it many years ago from webcomic discussions, so I'm pretty sure we've already done the waiting .

Had Billy West decided to back up John and leave if he was fired (which is something John tried to force him to do). Then all Nickelodeon would have done is look for new voice actors and Billy would have most likely been blacklisted. And keep in mind that Ren & Stimpy was one of Billy's big breaks in a field that's insanely difficult to break into.

There's not too many consistently working voice actors out there because there's just not enough jobs. Jon Saint John (the voice of Duke Nukem) still struggles to find work. And those guys don't get residuals for their work too. The Simpsons voice actors don't get even 1% of the syndication money and that show makes almost a billion a year. Movies might be a little different but I wouldn't expect much.

BTW: Billy did a damn good job as Ren.
