Depends on your frame of references. Folks in the US had teenage brides up until the 50s. Jerry Lee Lewis was 22 and married his 13 year old cousin. And since the Catholic church was more concerned about protecting their "brand" than about protecting kids, word got around pretty quickly that it was a great place for pedos and they infiltrated in great numbers. And despite what some like to claim, a man who "identifies" as straight but molests little boys -- isn't really straight. He might be bi or pansexual (which is really just a narcissist who will literally fuck anything because the only thing that matters is his/her own pleasure), but heterosexual he is not. So, I'm leery of any stat which claims that the majority of molesters are straight when they usually let the offender "self-identify".

If this judge only had sex with 16 year old boys, there would be lots of people rushing to his defense. Let's not forget how many conservative rushed to defend Roy Moore when he was accused of using his position of authority to prey on 14 year old girls. But no one can really defend toddler rape. What I find really horrifying is the number of people who prefer to keep their mouth shut and pretend it isn't happening. Every person -- liberal or conservative -- should be calling for this pedo to get the rope. If you can't or won't do that, you should get the rope, too.

It was actually the English during the Victorian age who started it when they stated that childhood was a special time for kids where they should be more carefree and cared for lovingly instead of having to work alongside their parents in fields and doing dangerous work in factories. In much older times you were considered an adult by 10 or 12 years old and tbh few people gave a shit if a young kid was abused or died because there was always more where that came from.
