Jesus, I play Minecraft with my friends just to build Albanian Hoxha Bunkers and Croat Villages. Minecraft's fanbase has gotten back to 2015 standards.
I miss the days of 2011 Minecraft. It's gotten too weird for me to enjoy any more.
After seeing all this I’m no longer embarrassed at being a fan of rock bands. It’s fine to be a fan of real people, to look up to them and find them attractive: but have some common sense. Don’t show your ero guro gay shipping art to creators. Don’t tag them in your fanfics of them, properly tag your shit, save any inappropriate chats to private DMs and don’t post them. The fact that I even have to type this out in 2021 is incredibly depressing.

This was an advantage tumblr had when it came to fan communities, (live journal more so.) it was easier to index these communities in a way to keep children and celebrities from seeing content fans made of real people. Social media has erased those barriers for the worst. You can’t tag anything properly on Twitter the site is a mess.

Much like 2013/4 Tumblr, smptwt (and even current mcyttwt) has had it's fair share of failed projects/scams. Stans have a tendency to DFE very quickly and this happened well over a year ago, so there's many missing gaps and some of my own anecdotes will be used to cover those.
SMPLive: the musical
In October 2019 an account by the name of smplivemusical | instagram | archive was made. Right now it seems to be taken over by people mocking the original owners, but it's original purpose was to make a non-profit musical based off of SMPLive. Like most projects run by teenagers, it did not end well.
A musical about Minecrafters? What the fuck and why the fuck?
The 'plot' was supposed to be original and made specifically for the musical, as SMPLive itself had no plot. The creator of the musical, Gaby (twitter handle unknown), supposedly contacted every creator involved in SMPLive and asked for approval. They all supposedly said they were fine with it, but I think that's pretty unlikely. Looking through tweets from back then, no one involved knew what was going on. The specifics likely only went down in the dedicated Discord server only available to the lucky few accepted onto the project (though it might just be this server). They recruited voice actors, musicians, artists, tap dancers (?), Minecraft set designers and more from the community.

There's a treasure trove of cringey art from this project.
Beyond this, there were accusations of good ol' art thieving, hazing, nsfw/shipping, and sperging out at any criticism.
The creator of smpronpa (the danganronpa gore fanfic) was in the discord and sent nsfw. I also heard they shittalked anyone who criticized them on the timeline, sending tweets to the server and circlejerking. Gaby, the creator also purportedly took over another fan project called SMPLive: The Game, and wouldn't shut up about the musical. This is all hearsay though, so take it with a grain of salt.

If you haven't already, take a break from jacking off and instead watch Carson's 'serious stream', as it's the explanation behind 99% of what happened in smptwt (which in turn influenced what became of mcyttwt as a whole). The stream caused much of the community to deactivate and made many question the various fan projects going on at the time (there was also game in the works, but it's not very interesting), including our dear musical. Many people left the project in part due to the stream and in part due to supposed infighting. This was their response:

Thanks for bringing this information to light. It's very interesting how people want to make musicals on various servers, and what not. Most of them will of course fail. Yeah, I gotcha. Unrelated but another thing that should be mentioned in the OP is the various justice crusades mcyttwt tends to go on, such as with the burner accounts and 'education' threads.
Beyond a DSMP musical(s), there has also been an attempt at a full on DSMP anime. Former smptwt members have been comparing the project to SMPLive the musical due to it's shady policy on money. Even beyond that, courtesy of @Novichops , a Dream team visual novel has been found, how fun.

What is it?
DreamSMP: The Musical seems to be a MAP (not that kind you weirdo, Multi-Animator Project), that follows the entire DreamSMP but has so far only covered the L'Manberg independence arc (all you need to know is that it's Hamilton but in Minecraft) and the Disc War. I am NOT going to sit through this, but just from watching 1 minute of it I already died at the male characters being voiced by females and Americans having to fake British accents (also, skip to 9:30 and just listen to the voice they used for Dream, I couldn't breathe). Original music and art was composed for it, genuinely surprised it got off the ground, but let's see if it even continues.

No actual content from this one yet besides some song demos on their Youtube. The creators (Lydian and Red) are off fucking about on a podcast called 'We Live on Angst', which is DreamSMP themed. They probably talk more about their plans on there as well as on their little discord server, but I'm not touching that shit with a 10ft pole.

L'Manberg: The Musical
This seems to be one of the musicals that sets former smptwt stans off since it reminds them of SMPLive: The Musical. No actual content from this one either, who could've guessed. It's coming in August 2021 so mark your calendars. This one also seems to have input from the DSMP streamers themselves. Their bio also reads as being "charity oriented" which is interesting considering other fan projects have had issues with getting permission to profit off of streamers' brands .

What is it?
L'Manberg The Musical looks to be aiming for something similar to DreamSMP: The Musical, focusing on the story of L'Manberg (which once again, is just Walmart Hamilton). The creators are "Ian has Opinions, Moderately Mediocre, Unused Sprite, Late August, Julia Jow, and more!". They seem to be personifying each streamer's chat which is ... something for sure | archive. They also plan to somehow subtitle the whole thing in multiple languages.

What is it?
"We are proud to announce that we are producing a Dream SMP Anime! We have scoured the internet in search of the most skilled MCYT artists to put together an elite animation team who is working on the anime pilot as we speak." (Taken from their Twitter)
This one in particular troubled many people, as animation is very hard to do, much less getting a bunch of 'elite' teenage artists to work together on a full blown 'anime'. On top of that, they intended to take donations at first. As I mentioned before, many creators do not want others to profit off their lucrative brands. Many people told them this, but they insisted on trying to get the attention of the DSMP streamers to no avail. They eventually decided against accepting any money. Besides that, how the fuck are you going to condense 1000s of hours of streams into an 'anime'? The teaser is supposed to come out in April.
