Misty's eldest daughter ran for the hills the day she turned 18, which resulted in this daughter living with her father and his partner. After several years of living with her father and babysitting her younger half siblings, there was an altercation in the home that resulted in Tricia being assaulted by her father. Because Tricia is autistic, adult protective services stepped in and put her in a group home instead. Tricia remained No Contact with her mother all through this situation, and remains estranged from her to this day.

From this sad situation, Misty decided that Lamonte and Merissa's youngest son was actually HER grandchild, a raep babby fathered by her ex husband on their eldest daughter. On this basis, she decided that she could forced both Tricia and this baby - who is entirely unrelated to her - into her custody. To "protect" them.

So basically, Misty expected her daughter - who had just survived a traumatic event at the hands of the only parent she trusted - to run home and apologize for ever leaving mama, and beg her forgiveness. When that didn't happen, Misty invented the grossest, most embarrassing story possible about her kid and shouted it at everyone in town, thinking at least it would get Tricia to yell at her. Any attention is good attention to a narc!

But no, Tricia just lives her life offline and avoids her mom. It drives Misty insane.

The best outcome though would be getting Tricia to talk to Misty herself and tell her what the friend said was false, she didn't bite.

Tricia probably has a damn good therapist telling her not to give her mother any attention. That's the best way to deal with a malignant narcissist, don't give them what they crave. They can't be cured and you just need to move on with your life setting as many boundaries as you can and keeping the walls up, swatting away the occasional flying monkeys they send your way.
