Most homes don’t have a “finished” attic. The air flow is terrible and it’s too hot in the summer and too cold in the fall/winter due to it being annoying to insulate. You aren’t supposed to load them up with random stuff just a few boxes you take out every once in a while (like a Hanukkah or Christmas ornaments box). For long term storage most people would suggest you look at storage units if you’re just looking for space since they’re cheap and easier to access than an attic.

Misty has the best featured links. Last time was just as glorious; she was featured in a news report segment about a local crime (?), but the lunatic was trying to convince people she was dead at the time! Her narc self just couldn't say no to the spotlight.
I'm so glad the kids are permanently out of her reach, makes the thread so much more enjoyable.
Seeing dead Misty show up alive and well on a local news report to show off was a treat, and that OTT reaction shot sure was something. You just know she's the sort of person who listens to the scanner and then bolts out the door for a chance at catching the local news station at the scene.

Misty loves to say that DCFS is still on her case - but she's already had her parental rights terminated to both her minor children. That ship has sailed.
But it's clear some government entity is still keeping tabs in her, probably APS, due to the horrible condition of her home and her total indifference to the danger she is in within it. She hasn't had heat in years; she didn't have hit water for years - it was only restored several years after her children were taken away; she didn't have a functional kitchen or bathroom at the time DCFS took the kids; the majority of her windows are broken and covered with rotten plywood; and she has piles of dusty hoard directly next to multiple electeic space heaters which are overloading the not-to-code old electrical system.
I could keep going, but you get the picture.
And Misty falling through the ceiling marks the SECOND ceiling collapse in the shit shack: the ceiling to the first floor bedroom caved in years ago. But, given that the room was hoarded with old belongings to shoulder height, Misty simply closed the door to that room and hasn't seen it since.
There are multiple points where vermin freely enter, including the first floor bedroom and the back door that is partially covered with a piece of OSB, and the rest with a blanket.
All this is plenty for adult social workers to get involved.
Rather surprised the coding enforcement hasn't codemned it if it has had 2 ceiling collapses.
That makes two of us. Between that and the videos she's made of the terrifying electrical system (and of course plenty of it is external and uncovered), I'm shocked DCFS didn't report her to APS immediately. She's alone in that place with 5 abused animals, and any number of things could go badly wrong in that home at any moment.
Our working theory is that services are involved - otherwise she'd be doing sweet fuckall to the house instead of shifting hoard around and making a lean-to off her kitchen - but that she lives in such a shitty part of town that she doesn't really rate above "keep an eye out for her, try to encourage her to fix her own shit". There's other immediate issues in that area, and at least Misty can't hurt her kids again. Only herself (and the innocent pets).

Misty is possibly my favorite cow. Her life is literally nothing but consequences for her cuntery. I know Chantal and Amber will wind up in this state eventually, but it’s annoying to watch them blunder around fatly with no obvious repercussions. Misty is just constant deserved suffering.

She heard a noise and decided to "investigate" - aka she was worried the rats were eating her prized collection of garbage.

Misty, you just gave APS the perfect reason to consider you in need of a payee and social worker. Your environment is unsafe and causing you injuries, and you cannot make appropriate decisions for yourself. I hate to say I told you so... but here we are.
APS is overwhelmed right now and generally only gets involved in cases where someone is being abused by others, elder abuse mostly but also disabled people being neglected by their caretakers. It's likely they had someone out to do a wellness check, but they're probably not very involved. I think what's happened is a county property inspector took a look and told her the property will be condemned if she doesn't make necessary repairs to bring the place up to code. Her house is a public nuisance, a haven for rodents and insect infestation, which endangers the health and wellbeing of her neighbors. Anyone who has ever lived near a hoarder can tell you, the rodent problems that come from those houses are so bad nothing you do can stop the invasion of your own property. They really do bring down the whole area, of course Misty's neighborhood is especially dumpy anyway.
Sadly it appears that Misty’s left leg/foot is all that is out of action. She will continue to drive one of her beater vehicles to hit up the local food banks for fresh food to expire in her fridge and canned goods to swell from botulism among her hoard.
Well, we do have some rather talented illustrators amongst us Kiwis; perhaps someone could do the honors?
Meanwhile, Misty was busily trying to get our attention for days while we all had better things to do than laugh at her; here are more of her monkey antics from that time.
Misty doxed her "boyfriend" Chris's apartment last week, outing him as being mentally disabled and in transitional housing for homeless/ junkie / SPED / mentally ill vets. Chris himself is just a shade above total tard, and has been living in this "transitional" housing for over a year. Hell, Misty even agreed with us that he straight up looks slow.
But now she's embarrassed, so she's lashing out at her estranged sister for it. And don't you try and steal her precious beanie baby and barbie collections, Kiwis! She's got hidden cameras EVERYWHERE!
But none of us cared, and she went to Indianapolis without any of her erstwhile enemies noticing. Did it even happen if she couldn't rub it in anyone's face?
Here Misty has decided that the social worker who represents her children's interests, based Ashley Evens, is part of a much larger conspiracy where she... uh... is up to something! All of it, in fact! This thing goes straight to the top!
It can't be the case that Misty is a lunatic who lives in appalling conditions and abused her children, and that's why they don't live with her. No, it's all a plot.
