A bit of elaboration for the confused people: Second Life, both the client and server, is open source (well, hair-splitting time: AFAIK the open source server is a third-party project). Linden Labs' official Second Life servers are their own closed system in their own right (and what people usually think of as Second Life), but nothing stops you from deploying the OpenSim on servers of your own and asking people to point their clients to it.
It can be used for awesome.

I done some heavy digging and oddly enough I noticed there about page many other things says the opposite of what the OP states, there about page shows they are not just sonic http://mobiusgrid.us/about-us/ and they states they make no money off the currency sales all currency is sold and handled by VirWox who is one of the oldest running & most trusted third party linden dollar exchange. even states it in there terms of service. Retroactively diagnosing people is not accepted practice amongst any sort of mental health professional. There is a reason why you have to go in and actually get examined before you get a diagnosis. If they could do it over the internet they would. The idea that you can diagnose historical figures with mental illnesses is retarded.
