For Pinterest, use the extension "uBlacklist" and nuke it from Google search results. I don't remember what my query was that lead me to it, but it was something like "HOW THE FUCK DO I REMOVE SHITTY PINTEREST GARBAGE IN SEARCH RESULTS".
I've been wanting a competent Google results filter that works. goodbye w3schools

Forgot where exactly this was mentioned before but somebody said something like 'people don't use adblockers'. It shocked me. Why wouldn't you? It's not a hassle to get one and I can't fathom any good reason anyone would want ads. Younger me genuinely thought 'just dl an ad blocker, bro' was (or would be) one of those things you learned as soon as you got internet access, like how kids just know how to clap out pattycake and pass it onto the ones who don't. Sometimes I forget ads even exist so when I get one I spent a minute being confused before realizing my browser must've fucked up somewhere and that's happened maybe... 5 times in the past 7-8 years? It's a one click install to never worry about ads ever again, wouldn't normies be all over that?

Let me guess, they watch them because they want to 'support the product' or ads are so high budget these days they're like 5 minute AAA movies?

No, most people really are so dumb when it comes to tech they can't install a browser extension. It's really terrifying considering how much of a focal point it's become in our lives. There was this study back in 2016 that found under a third of the population in most rich western countries could handle a computer task more complicated than hitting reply all to an email. People like you and I and most people on sites like Kiwifarms or Reddit or 4chan have trouble comprehending this, but to them when we talk about something the slightest bit technical we sound like we're speaking pidgin to them.

A site like Reddit apparently has 234 unique visiters a month. That's 5% of the 4.57 billion people worldwide that use the internet. Think of the dumb people you've met on Reddit. They're still in the top third of people in terms of technical proficiency and very likely in the top 10%, because most people can't handle a computer task more complex than a single step and are not going to be able to figure out anything more complex than setting up a Facebook account where you basically just have to enter your personal information.

Your average, non-power or business user in 2020 accesses the internet on a mobile phone. 90% of that time is spent using apps to access online services. I doubt a huge chunk of people even know what a internet browser is, let alone what an extension is. Don't get me wrong, they use a browser on occasion, but if you asked them what browser they use they will look at you dumbfounded. They just touch the little icon on their phone and google things instead of typing in addresses. A large percentage of these blue-checkmarks you argue with on Twitter literally would not know how to access Twitter if you deleted the app from their phone.

There used to be this idea when I was in high school and me and my buddies would upgrade our Windows 98 desktop PCs and play Doom on the school's lan that one day everyone would be like us and know how to do these things. Nope. They just made computers dumber.

At least use yandex, startpage or duckduckgo. Google doesn't return any useful results unless you let them track you. Open up a private browser and search something that isn't a normie search and see how garbage it really is.

Isn't hard to sell you something if the salesman follows you everywhere you go, including the bedroom and the toilet.

Looking at the people responding to the thread it looks like the start of a gay ARG.
Indeed. I have no clue myself, but I have to admit the idea of some sort of exploit that could cause Youtube to come crashing to the ground does make me excited.

The Quartering also picked this up, but honestly, if there were really some sort of new cyber-exploit going around, would you trust that guy to get to the bottom of it?

The internet - at least in English - has gotten so "manipulative" in Current Year. No matter what search engine you use or what you search for, it seems the top results always have clickbaity "hot take" articles by hipsters that try to convince you of the corporate or "woke" approved narrative on the subject. Like a search for Kiwi Farms brings up the "Rational" Wiki article.

It sucks how political and agenda-ish the "honknet" seems now...

It's a logical conclusion of Google's ad revenue monetization being based on clickthroughs, but in a particularly cruel, monkey's paw kind of way.

Here's an example of what I mean:

Google search on "we are siamese if you please"

Identity politics are brought up in the 3rd result, with an "unfurled" result (wow "unfurled" stuff is so annoying):

What's wrong with the Siamese cat song?

The “Siamese Cat Song” is a racist caricature of what white people thought of Asian people at the time. Their names are racist (“Si” and “Am”), their design is racist (those teeth), their voices are racist (that broken English and accent), and the music is racist (that gong).

Other search engines like Yahoo! have links to articles like "Disney Replacing Problematic 'Siamese Cat' Song From 'Lady ...". Although at least DuckDuckGo has no politics in the first page.

tl;dr: Even a Di$ney song is political in the Current Year, and Google is still trying to "socially engineer" you how to think.

Likely stated earlier but my grief is how every couple of years the USA government puts the all online aside from the digital marketplaces in jeopardy by shortsightedly courting permanent solutions to perceived problems.

It can be infuriating when one searches for something that can be briefly explained in text, but it seems the only results that show up are TL;DW YouTube videos. Do we really need a 10 minute rambling YouTube video explaining how to turn off JavaScript?
This is especially annoying when I want to look up how to install mods for certain games and the videos are like 5 fucking minutes.

It's just a bunch of files. You can do it in a single minute if you know what to do.

Or completely silent videos from Russians where they circle the mouse around an icon/option for five seconds before clicking on it, then opens notepad to slowly type out what they are doing.

I know that Chome OS runs on (mostly) budget laptops, but it looks like shit. Unless you install Linux on it, you can't download any new non mobile software because it's compatible with nothing. You can't do shit with it except for browsing the web and downloading android apps.

This looks like a fake MacOS X you'd see in a shitty movie.
