Most of you probably know of the relatively popular Tumblr blog "genderoftheday." For those who don't, it's a blog where people submit random shit as genders. Memes, weird or funny images, fuck ups of those "gender: male/female" ...things, you get the idea. The point of GoTD is to make jokes and generally be silly and stupid.

Now take GoTD, strip away the farcical nature, and make it dead serious.
What you'd end up with is something that is still more tolerable than mogai-archive.

mogai*-archive is a notorious Tumblog for people who just aren't satisfied with everyday sexual orientations, genders, and pronouns. Do you think fucking robots makes you marginalized and oppressed? Do you think personality traits, interests, hobbies, completely random objects, and gender identity are all the same thing? Do you want to make referring to yourself in the third person linguistically impossible? Are you otherkin and want to piggyback off of trans people to make yourself look legit?
Then mogai-archive is the place for you!

To date, the site has amassed over 100 sexual orientations and roughly 400 genders. There's also a long list of pronouns based on things like animals, plants, baked goods, musical instruments, the periodic table, trigonometric functions, Pokemon, and the weather.

The best thing about mogai-archive is that it is not the product of one person. It's not even the product of a small group of people. It's the product of hundreds of Tumblrites, each one adding their own layer of stupidity to form one giant, headache inducing, cringe worthy, and unintentionally hilarious bullshit cake.

You know, I'm kind of shocked I've never come across any posts on Tumblr complaining about It's Pat, a terrible SNL sketch where the joke is nobody can tell Pat's gender. The same terrible SNL sketch that somehow got made into a movie.

But then again almost nobody saw that movie so that's probably why.

You're born physically male or female, and that's that, unless your intersex. You're assigned a gender based on your physical sex which yes tumblr, is an actual thing. You're physically a girl whether you identify as agender, nb, or whatever. If you were born with a vagina, you are a physical female.

I don't see what part of that is so hard to understand by these people. Its like they want all humans on earth to just be deemed genderless, sexless blobs and if you disagree with that then you're cissexist and transphobic. They even deny that X and Y chromosomes exist. Its great, lets keep in mind that these people are part of the same species that landed on the moon. It makes me cry.

Otherkin was it's own thing long before the genderspecials came along, predating even the internet, and people have identified as something in between male and female for ages, though, and that's as close as you can get with the alternative gender thing.

What ended up happening, I think, is that otherkin latched onto Tumblr social justice and piggybacked onto the transgender rights movement a few years back, pretty much with the reasoning "well, if that person can identify as a different gender, then surely it should be equally as acceptable to identify as a different species! Or a fictional character! Or several different people!"

And with saner people abandoning Tumblr or just shutting up about the crazies, the whole mess sort of mutated into an incestuous orgy of neo-pronoun nonsense and Oppression Olympics pissing contests.

Oddly enough, it used to be trolls who pulled this "my kintype and gender are the same thing! my pronouns are kielbasa/kielbasas/kielbasaself!" stuff. The rest of the Tumblrkin community (for the most part) recognized that being otherkin was not the same as being transgender and that the two were completely different experiences. The community was still a toxic shithole, worse than what it is nowadays, but at least they had that going for them. It wasn't until daemutt started this neopronoun stuff that the "kintype=gender" idea exploded into popularity. It makes me wonder how many people genuinely understood that otherkin=/=transgender and how many just kept their mouths while lying through their teeth.
