I know people who are asexual and that's all fine with me, but I will reject demisexuality (and to a lesser extent, Grey-A) to the ends of this earth. There is no point at which you think "the amount of sexual attraction I feel is less than normal but not none" because there IS no normal, universally accepted threshold of sexual attraction. Everybody is different.

These people, again, think that all others are like what they see on TV and obsessed with sex constantly, and they think "well, I'm not normal then" and label themselves, when in fact that's normal as fuuuuck. They just haven't gotten to know anybody else.

The thing that gets me about demisexuality is that, even if you accept the really stupid concept that "not interested in casual sex" is a sexual orientation, it's not one that's even remotely stigmatized! Aside from a few assholes on dating sites and the JERK MALE stereotypes that haunt Chris-chan's dark dreams, nobody in the world actually reacts negatively to the concept of wanting to have an emotional bond with someone before you have sex with them, and so demisexuals end up inventing this dumb mirror world where every "allosexual" is rutting furiously in the streets and will beat you with brickbats if you don't join in to prove how oppressed they are.

The cool ace people I know are fully aware that Asexuality isn't technically an "oppressed minority", they just would like for it to be considered more normal, which is understandable. Demisexuality does not fall under here, as it's normal from the getgo and people who say they're Demi want for it to be considered abnormal so they can get oppression points.

We should really figure a system out for oppression points.
For each mental disease you have, add a point. (2 if it's self-diagnosed off of WebMD.)
If you're trans*, you earn 5.
If it's not a gender recognizable to a person on the street, you earn 3.
If it's a gender you made up yourself, extra 3 points.
If you're part of a minority, add sqrt(number of generations removed since your last pureblooded ancestor of that minority).
If you're fat, add the number of points that your BMI is over normal by.
If you're male and not actively transitioning to female, subtract 9001 points.

With 15 points, you earn a t-shirt!

Ehh, I've known a few people who identify as demisexual who genuinely feel no sexual attraction whatsoever without there being an emotional bond, but I do think the concept is a bit eye-rolly and I definitely don't think it falls under the LGBT+ heading.

That said, saying they should kill themselves is pretty fucked up in my opinion...but then again, I'm against the "(x) should kill themselves" mentality for the most part in general. :/

The point is that this is actually a pretty common pattern of sexual attraction, it doesn't make sense as a distinct sexual orientation, and it's not discriminated against in any meaningful way except, like I mentioned before, by assholes on dating sites. Nobody's going to be disowned by their parents, denied jobs or housing, gatekept away from necessary medical care, or prevented from marriage because of demisexuality. It might end a relationship or two in the early stages, but by that standard, having really bad taste in music or an obnoxious laugh should also be a protected minority sexuality.

they think the sitcoms and movies they see on tv depict how sexual humans act with 100% accuracy - confident all the time, getting what they want all the time, no awkwardness. Anything else is "deviant." I am convinced this is the reason.

I'm guessing that it's supposed to be used along with a romantic orientation so that people get the idea of who you're attracted to (as in "homoromantic demisexual"). Or maybe you're supposed throw the prefix in with the "demisexual" part, like "homodemisexual" or something.

If in doubt: Just add "grey" to your sexual orientation. That means that you usually are attracted to [insert something] but sometimes not.

Grey asexual, grey demisexual etc.
