Personally his bloated SAO nonsense makes me assume everyone who dislikes SAO is as braindead as this cuck. To be honest I think the hate is overblown and the chuuni power fantasy is 200% the lesser of two evils these days.
The biggest problem with SAO is the two opposing camps. One that will scream "SAO IS SUBHUMAN TRASH" as hard as they can, and another camp saying "Hate is unjustified, it's actually good if you watch it", when honestly it's just plain bad. There are other anime that do what SAO tries so much better.

I don't think the show is this God awful blight on the medium some say it is, it's just an oatmeal of a show.

There's nothing it does that stands out, it just revitalized the isekai genre like never before because it got lucky and went mainstream in the West. I found the first arc to be actually enjoyable as the threat of dying was a good plot driving mechanic and the characters were good enough, everything afterwards is just bloat to play off it's own hype.

This guy is just a shill who will spout off whatever is the popular opinion unless it's not politically correct or Funi/Crunchyroll pays him to think otherwise.

.hack/Log Horizon are sleep inducing though. SAO, as much as its justified snark bait never bored me to tears/was a fun ride IMO (I'm cursed to love trainwrecks ever since I had the patience to watch all of the bad season of Medabots). Overlord season 1 was the middle ground between coma inducing like .horizon and dumb nonsense like SAO; a shame it became ow the edge flavored Log Horizon.

SAO is sort of a confluence of everything that could possibly merge together and form a massive hate bandwagon.
It's bad, but not so bad that it can't get popular by being aimed at a demographic that isn't exactly known for being smart or having ultra-patrician tastes (teenage boys), it was massively popular, and at a time when anime was getting way more popular, and this is even more apparent now, but its popularity had a very negative effect on the industry with dozens of new shows every season, each trying to be the "new" SAO and all ending up even worse.
It also happened at a time when the "angry internet reviewer" genre was receiving a second peak on youtube, and the algorithm heavily favored those types of videos. Largely, I think the shtick was popular because your average normalfag, no matter how much they dislike it on the inside, will never openly criticize brand/product unless someone they perceive to be in a position of authority does it first. I usually refer to it as the RLM effect, after how public opinion of the prequels rapidly shifted post-plinkett review.
The thing about old roundface here is that he to this day pretends to have been some pioneer in SAO bashing video essays, when in reality he was a late bandwagoner who jumped on over a year after the trend got really big, and long after it had been overdone and every possible angle of discussion had been exhausted. He has never offered up a remotely original thought, just cashed in on an existing trend and shat out a couple of videos in a day or two.

You don't need to be original to go after such an ez modo target. The worst that could happen is contrarian shit-stirrers actually team up with SAO fans, and that hasn't happened because no one wants to cape for lowest common denominator trash (unless you're Hero Hei and using it for anti-woke bait), regardless if the hatedom is extremely retarded to the point where the LCD is the lesser of two evils.

Just because the Sons of Kojima and Superhound exist means DSP is a good human being. At the very best, justified targets like Sword Art Online/DSP are sorta like Hao, and faggots like Mother's Cucksment/Sons of Kojima/Superhound are just Marco.

Something rubs me the wrong way about this. He hasn't 'caught up', has he? I'm not like, a fan of One Piece, or anything, but it feels pretty half-assed to do this halfway. Even if it is something as notoriously long as One Piece.

But then again, I'm not part of his sub 50 braincell subscriber base.
No, he hasn't. If he did? He would have talked about Wano or what the One Piece really is.

I actually enjoyed his Kaiji video, but that was before I checked out his other shit. Once I watched more of his content; especially where he would power level how much of a commie he was or insert his usual buzzwords and the like, that's where I pulled out.

A corporate sponsored anime reviewer who LARPs as a communist criticizing corporations. Is this grift getting old? No, he's still making money at the expense of his already battered dignity. His girlfriend fucking around is just the cherry on top.

But, seriously, does this guy actually think his "haters" care that he has a whore?

I mean, a girlfriend?

I’m more confused as to how an admitted communist can like Kaiji. His gambling apocalypse was used to fight back from being broke and dead by people that wanted to turn him into an example.

As a One Piece fan myself, it is blatantly obvious that he barely knows what he is talking about when it comes to the series, particularly the World Government part. He talks about it obviously pushing his liberal agenda, not understanding that his liberal agenda and socialist rhetoric is exactly what the World Government stands for. The irony of his statements during that part while also being a socialist supporter himself is oh so sweet.
