Mouse recommendations? - Gaming or regular? Wired or wireless?

I would like some recommendations for a mouse to use with a laptop. Long story short, I'm at the mercy of my laptop's touchpad mouse, which as we all probably know is shit for arguably anything you use a mouse for.

Since I do play action-heavy games on occasion*, would a gaming one be worth buying? Should I get a wireless or a wired mouse? If it's ergonomic friendly, all the more better.

*Yes, I know, I will get a proper desktop eventually, but right now it's not in the cards. It is partly why I'm interested in a gaming mouse, though.

I would prefer not to pay higher than $65 (and even that is questionable), but I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks, all!

Magic Mouse 1. Not trolling - honestly the best wireless mouse I've ever used. Just don't get the Magic Mouse 2. Removing the replaceable battery and putting the charge port on the bottom of the mouse is the most braindead thing Apple has done in recent memory.

If this was several years ago I would recommend the Logitech M705, but recent models are noticeably cheaper-feeling than the older ones. I would still recommend it for Windows/Linux use.

Optical mouse in blue is a favorite but its probably bulky to carry around with a laptop

I have a gaming mouse and keyboard and they didnt make me better at gaming. Save your money and buy better headphones. I literally only use the extra buttons for sorting photos.

Can confirm as I have one. It's good enough. Got gifted it though from my SO after my other one broke - they had a couple of spares & were about to be thrown out anyways.

If you wanna get all autistic you might want to consider right handed ergo shape, grip style, etc. before deciding.

Logitech has brought back the impeccable MX518 with the same shell design, a new sensor, and new materials. It's what I'm using right now.

Roccat Kiro. Been using it for the last few years. Runs well and the RGB is a plus if one is into that. The middle mouse button on mine is borked but that's likely from overuse of pressing the middle mouse button.

Don't buy mice from Office Max or Office Depot. They sell $30 mice for $60.

If you need a spare mouse, get a Logitech M100. The DPI is about 800 or 1000. As a cheap spare, it isn't bad. I wouldn't recommend it as a primary gaming mouse.

Wired is often preferred over wireless for gaming due to latency. Heard this isn't as big of a problem now.
