Wow. Chris' writing has really become disjointed and incoherent over the years. He used to provide too much detail in his exposition. Now, he doesn't provide enough detail to enable the reader to follow what he's saying.

Netflix is cheaper than cable, so I guess it would make sense to have it if they opted against cable.

EDIT- For the record don't think the movie is amazing. It's feels a bit pretentious and isn't that great. But the story of the filming, how they got the dialogue and being able to get away with it is absolutely fascinating to me.

Thanks for giving me some info about the movie, something Chris' post failed to do.

EDIT: That's the thing. Chris doesn't watch movies and think about the movie itself, in terms of its themes, symbols, etc. That's entirely over his head.

I'm surprised he doesn't just torrent everything, honestly. I think he has the capacity to work out uTorrent, and hey - more Lego cashbucks. TPB even provides a slew of Boyfriend-Free Girls in their advertisements!

I have no idea what Escape from Tomorrow is about but Twister is a bit more obvious and I'm intrigued about how tornadoes apparently gave him a severe case of the prickly wricklies. And did he see it in theaters? Did Barb (and Bob) actually allow their fifteen year-old son watch a PG-13 movie?

I've been speaking online with a lot of Chinese people for whom English is a second language, and Chris's writing style reminds me of theirs.

No, I think theirs is several magnitudes more understandable.

After reading up on this the movie is apparently very personal. The guy who wrote it had a lot of father issues he was trying to work out, and made this movie to express that. Chris of course didn't see any of this. He made the movie about him and how he feels. I'm not even surprised any more, he even made Twister about himself.

I don't really see a problem with what Chris is doing. Projecting into narratives is a very human thing to do. If people say that a song or a book spoke to them on a personal level, nobody thinks of it as selfish or weird. Chris' interpretations are just as valid as any other person's.
