Silent hill 2 ost is a nostalgic masterpiece.
But since you asked for a movie ost.

The first How to Train Your Dragon has some great themes

"Test Drive" and the scene it was scored to is the most amazing cinematic experience I've ever had to date. It's perfect. It actually beat out "To the Stars" in terms of dragon-related films, and I fucking love the Dragonheart soundtrack.
"Wonders of an Ancient Glory" makes my aching heart soar among the stars.

The movie sucks, but back in high school, I listened to the Queen of the Damned soundtrack all the time. Same with the soundtrack to Dee Snyder's Strangeland.

I haven't bought many movie soundtracks since then. I have the soundtrack to Sweeney Todd I liked well enough, but haven't listened to it in ages. I do like the soundtrack to Breakdown as well (fantastic movie as well as a great score)

Koyaanisqatsi (1982). My first introduction to Philip Glass

Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie. If you never seen this documentary I highly recommend watching it. The soundtrack is amazing. Nuclear death never looked so beautiful.

Here are a selection of horror tracks I have taken note of recently

RING/RINGU
The movie had a really good soundtrack in general, effortlessly switching between mystery, melancholy, and ball crunching terror, which really complimented the visuals and story of the movie. My favourite track has to be the tune that plays during the climactic TV scene which even nearly 20 years after watching/hearing it still fills me with warm nostalgic terror

HALLOWEEN/THE THING
Gonna lump my John Carpenter picks together here, and frankly this needs little introduction given how his movies are famous for their soundtracks for good reason. For Halloween, while the famous intro music is probably a better song I am going to pick this track given how it perfectly hypes up the visceral horror of the final act

As for The Thing, again the intro music is the most deservedly famous piece but i have always liked the track that plays when the first doppelganger is revealed since it perfectly sets the tone for the whole movie

ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS/THE BEYOND
Choosing my favourite Italian sytnth/funk horror score was tough given the sheer volume of choice from Cannibal Holocaust to Suspiria to Dawn of the Dead. However In the end I went with the dream team of Fulci and Frizzi. The finest of italian zombie schlock was paired with the finest italian horror-funk-synth music. Zombie Flesh Eaters had probably the catchiest theme song of any zombie movie and back in the distant past when I as a child used to trawl the chaos that was the pre-youtube, pre-social media, pre-4chan internet this song immidiately got me hooked when I was watching various gory horror film trailers in some forgotten angelfire site

As for The Beyond, Frizzi provided a more refined and suitably bleak yet energetic soundtrack that complimented the mindfuckery that unfolded on screen.

THE SHINING
Another of the "music that trigger my fear impulse because I watched this shit as a kid" soundtracks, this shit is pretty much the perfect way to open a movie and set the dark and merciless tone for what is to come. And imma be honest hearing a snippet of it in the recent Doctor Sleep trailer to confirm that it would indeed be a sequal to the Kubrick movie managed to very slightly revive the dessicated inner fanboy I thought dead since 2014.

28 DAYS LATER
IMO the best zombie movie* outside the George A Romero Dead trilogy and has one of my all time favourite movie soundtracks in general. While the "In a house/in a heartbeat" track is more famous and seems to have entered the "stock spoopy music" public domain given how its on like 40% of all creepypastas, it frankly cant compare with the Godspeed You Black Emperor track that plays during the "Empty London" scene, which in itself is one of my favourite scenes in horror

* yes i know they are not technically zombies. blow me
