Because Descent was being all girly about posting it, I'm jacking her thread idea. What scenes from movies made you tear up, cry, or (if you're a guy), feel a momentary pang of sorrow before remembering that boobs and guns exist?

Off the top of my head the ones that stand out are the opening scene to UP and Michael Caine's monologue in the graveyard towards the end of The Dark Night Rises.

Speaking of Dark Knight Rises, I saw it in theatres and cried during two scenes. When Bruce escapes the pit without the rope and basically from the point where Batman tells Gordon his identity to the end credits. Much tears were flowing.

The scene in Castaway when Tom Hanks loses Wilson. He loved the damn volleyball.

The "grande finale" in Edward Scissorhands.

Nightmare Before Christmas. Oh boy, NBX. It'd be easier to list the scenes that don't make me cry.
1.
Jack's Lament, especially they way he sings "the fame and praise come year after year, does nothing for these empty tears". If you know anything about Danny Elfman's life at that time the song means so much more.
2.The scene where Sally throughs herself out the window to deliver the care package to Jack.
3.
T_____T Oh god this
4.
and the ending scene of course

I had to stop watching this with my boyfriend because he kept laughing at me everytime I teared up.

The ending scene of "Saving Private Ryan" where he's standing at the American cemetery and remembering all of his fallen comrades and starts crying.

The scene in "Walk the Line" where Johnny Cash's brother dies.

The scene in the original Robocop where he's sitting in the industrial plant thinking everything over and waiting for Clarence Boddicker and his gang to come try to kill him and his partner offers him baby food and he just says, "no, thank you. I'm not hungry," with that tone of total dejection and acceptance in his voice.

The ending of All Dogs Go to Heaven. I was maybe six or seven and my mother couldn't understand why I was crying. I remember yelling, "It's just....SAAAAD." My little heart was broken.

For some reason reading books are more likely to give me feels than watching movies. But the opening of Up almost made me cry.

I'm adding books and video games because why the hell not? In no particular order...

- Sirius's death in the Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix. I'm not even that much of a fan of Harry Potter and it made me cry for some reason.
- The letter part from Khaled Housseini's The Kite Runner
- The letter part from Khaled Housseini's A Thousand Splendid Suns (I see a trend forming...). Also Mariam's death in the same book.
- The ending of Frankenstein: The modern Prometheus
- The ending of Yume Nikki. It makes me feel empty on the inside...all that work for THAT to happen...
- The King's backstory from Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star hit REALLY close to home for me at the time.

One time, I read the wikipedia page about the movie Beaches with Bette Midler, and I fucking cried just reading the wikipedia page. Watching that movie would fucking wreck me.

I remember myself and all the chicks in my social studies class in 8th grade crying over the end of Glory.

I made the mistake of watching We Need to Talk About Kevin at 2am last year. That movie messed me up for days.

There's been some episodes of Night Court that have almost made me cry. I think I cried till about midnight the night Office ended too, especially the scene where Michael came to Dwight's wedding.

Old Yeller's ending always gets me bawling, as does the end of Where the Red Fern Grows.
I have a huge soft spot for animals like dogs and cats, so it really gets to me, especially since the dog we had when I was a kid was "put down" in a way very similar to Old Yeller minus the rabies. He even kinda looked like the dog in the film.

The ending to Where the Red Fern Grows just broke my heart. Fukken fern.

Now for some Disney ones.

Flynn/Eugene's death, even if it is temporary. Just damn.

The Do You Want to Build a Snowman sequence. Pretty much all of it, but especially the end:
Elsa?
Please, I know you're in there.
People are asking where you've been.
They say have courage... and I'm trying to.
I'm right out here for you,
Just let me in.
We only have each other. It's just you and me.
What are we gonna do?

.......Do you wanna build a snowman?
