Movies/tv adaptations you want to see made (realistically) -

Couldnt find a thread like this so I decided to make one. As we all know there is a veritable wealth of comics, games, books and other media which many of you will no doubt think deserve a fitting film adaptation which will bring said media's awesumness to a far wider crowd and also enhance said awesumness to fans of the media such as yourself. Some of these things stand no chance of ever reaching the silver screen but others have either a very good chance or are already slowly making their way there.

Basically this is a thread where you can sperg about any film adaptation you think should AND could be made (and yes this includes remakes/reboots of existing films which utterly fucked up the source material)

Ill start the circlejerk with a book close to my heart.

Blood Meridian

Aside from providing me my username, blood meridian is another book from Cormac Mccarthy, and can be seen as part of a very loose "thematic trilogy" (the theme being civilisation as represented by fire) which includes No Country for Old Men and The Road. Both of which (but the former especially) were extremely successful and popular, and prove that the works of Cormac Mccarthy can be both profitable and remain true to the source material.

Blood Meridian especially however deserves to get a "No Country" style adaptation due to how fucking brutal, deep, and awesome the book is, and how much its imagery should be put in a film. Should it be made into a film close to the book it will possibly be the goriest and most horrific movie in recent history but will also have the potential to be one of the best films ever

Ridley scott was originally going to make it, and still seems to have a lot of interest in the project which I think is good since he can be a fucking brilliant director, but apparently the studios are too pussy to release something so ultra violent and dark as blood meridian. The other problem I forsee would be casting Judge Holden since I honestly cant think of anyone who would do him justice.

Either way this shit needs to get made

I was going to say Eyes of the Dragon, a classic by Stephen King which features Randall Flagg as a main villain. But then I Wikipedia'd it and apparently Syfy is adapting it. So it'll be some major drek with a CGI octopus or something.

I would also like to see The Talisman, my favorite Stephen King book, made into a miniseries or movie. It'd probably be really shitty though because the book is actually kind of heartbreaking in it's sincerity

Black House is a stinking pile of feces though

I'd love to see a Punisher movie that doesn't suck. Pretty much a straight adaptation of The Slavers would be ideal, but if they wanted to avoid being accused of ripping off the movie Taken, they could do The Cell as a fairly low-budget, dark, creepy film. I think Gerard Butler could do a good Frank Castle, especially if they used makeup/CGI to make him look older than he is.

I generally hate movies and cringe at the thought of stuff I like being adapted (i.e. run through the hollywood cliche mill) but there are some that I wouldn't mind too much.

For some reason, an adaptation of the novel "The Automatic Detective" is in David Fincher's IMDb "Projects in development" list. I love that novel, but what a weird match for a film adaptation.

Also....a live-action Transformers movie that isn't complete shit.

A mini series based on the Joy Luck Club. They made a movie, but it doesn't really work that well. A 12 part mini series would be best.

After seeing Telltale Games' Wolf Among Us, I'd like to see somebody try to do a proper series out of Fables. The concept was pitched to ABC before and I think that's how we ended up with shows like Once Upon a Time.

So yeah somebody like AMC, SHowtime or HBO should be the one to take a crack at it (Not SyFy, ABC or NBC...).

i personally think instead of the atrocious Agents of Shield, they should have adapted Damage Control.
one of my personal favorite series when i was younger and it would have more leeway for comedy and character stuff that they're trying to shoehorn into AoS

I actually kind of like Agents of Shield but the comedy randomly being stuck in is incredibly annoying.

If the right director did it, Golgo 13, could make an awesome live action movie. Since I loved Memento, I think Nolan could make a good Golgo 13 movie, its about a badass Japanese hitman named Duke Togo, who is an expert marksman, and he goes against various criminal groups, and cool shit like that. Oh and dont forget, he also fucks a ton of women, and smokes cigars.

Crying Freeman, is another anime/manga about an assassin, that could make a badass Tarintino movie. There was a live action adaptation in the 90s but I haven't seen it. The main character is this expert assassin for this yakuza group called the 108 Dragons, and a woman witnesses him kill some triads, so he has to kill her, but instead they fall in love, and she joins him, and gets the big Yakuza back Tatoo and joins the group. Its really badass and there is an anime, that's 6 one hour episodes.

*Joke answer

Seriously though with todays technology, why the fuck hasn't Hollywood made a big budget adaptation of Swat Kats???? There are so many reasons it would kick ass. For one thing, as a furry I would love it, finally having Hollywood recognize us, since we are a minority group after all. Also Hollywood has tons of CGi money, and those effects are so easy to do now anyway, plus its not like Hollywood has been in trouble lately or anything, what with money and all. And who wouldn't recognize the Swat Kats License???? I remember a bunch of kids who also liked it, as when I was a kid, Come on Hollywood are you reading this??? Make this happen! Also another great reason, is that Swat Kats has some of the hottest babes, if you were a kid in the 90s, and you say you didn't wanna fuck Callico Briggs, then your either gay or a liar.

They could get George Lucas to direct, and Jon Favroue to writh the script. And Hollywood, if your reading this, GET MARK HAMIL TO REPRISE HIS ROLE AS JONNY K the camera man!!

I think a perfect time to make a live-action G.I. Joe movie would've been the late eighties or early nineties, with an ensemble cast of the biggest action stars of the day. Hell, The Expendables was a better adaptation than Rise of Cobra or Retaliation even dreamed of being.
