I've been watching no-budget early 2000s zombie crap lately and I've actually been enjoying it. To my surprise nobody on letterboxd or IMDB agree though.

So what do you guys enjoy to everyone else's dismay? Here's mine:

This one was slow and atmospheric the director was probably a fan of Lucio Fulci because the zombies were ghostly and slow moving and the gore was nice.

I liked this one because it dealt with zombie apocalypse scenarios I always wanted to see like a crowded highway being attacked or the national guard shelter getting overrun.

This is one of those so bad it's good movies that no one else thinks is very funny except for me and British fellow on YouTube.

This movie reminded me of resident evil outbreak and it's equally as cheesey as s resident evil cut scene.

I really fucking love Gehenna: Where Death Lives but apparently all the reviews are scathing and the wikipedia article is unflattering.

Also it's probably due to the influence of alcohol but I strangely find The Room to be legitimately good after watching it a few times.

A Japanese American co-production? I'll have to add that to my watchlist.

It's pretty good. You can argue it drags, but I found it suspenseful and applied good usage of classic Japanese horror ala The Ring, the plot twist was amazing and the end legitimately haunted me. I really think the bad ratings are just because Americans can't understand Japanese horror and they're mad there's not enough blood and jumpscares in it.

The Netflix Death Note movie.

I absolutely love it. It's so fucking funny. It is by far the best horror-comedy I have ever seen, and next to the Japanese live action TV series that has Mello being Near's split personality in the form of a fucking ventriloquist puppet, it is the best adaptation of the series. Every other adaptation besides the previous ones mentioned, and the musical have been boring af, which is exactly what the originally wasn't at all.

My only advice before watching is to either read the manga, or watch the anime first, because everything becomes a million times funnier with the context of the original source material, and to not go into it like you're actually going to watch a serious adaption. Go into like it's one of the parody movies from the mid 2000s-2010s, because that's basically what it is.

I'm so hyped for sequel.

I kinda like Uwe Boll's early video game movies, they are stupid and has nothing in common with the games except for some names, but I still enjoy them.

I still don't get how he managed to get some of the actors to agree to be in them though. Christian Slater and Tara Reid sure, but Jason Statham, Rob Perlman, Ray Liotta and Ben Kingsley should be able to be a bit selective about which roles they take.

I like Freddy's Dead: the Final Nightmare.

Oh, it's a re.tarded movie, I won't argue that. It's campiness and stupidity is exactly why I enjoy it. I love the Elm Street movies as a whole, and this one gets shit on constantly, rightfully so. But if you get in the right mood, it's a hoot to sit through.

It's rep has gotten a bit better in recent years, but I unironically like Freddy's Revenge quite a bit as well (aka the gay Elm Street)

Mystery Men. Everyone seems to shit on that movie and I've never understood the hate. Yes, it's not a perfect movie. Yes, it's ugly in a 90's "Schumacher's Batman" way, but at it's core is a plucky story about a bunch of misfits that just want to live out their dream. I found the charm and earnestness of the story outweighed the flaws.

Howard the Duck. The very definition of so bad, it's.....still bad, but at some point, you're staring in wonderment at the awfulness unfolding in front of you. It's a movie that makes me cringe, (thanks to the million or so Duck Puns it uses,) but at no point was I actively hating it. And any movie that has an explosive climax with 80's optical effects and stop-motion monsters is aces in my book.

Masters of the Universe. People didn't like this because it was different from the cartoon, but what did they expect a live action adaptation to do? It was decent, for what it was , even though, as Cannon Film's last movie, it skimped on the budget noticeably. It did have room in the budget for a snazzy neon Pizza sign (which you'll see a million times since most of the movie took place on a single street set.) It also had Frank Langella as Skeletor, trying to outcompete Raul Julia for the "Redeeming a Film by Being a Hammy Scenery Chewing Villain" award. Oh, and the camp. My God, the camp!

Wait, people still hate Mystery Men? I thought it was more well received these days. That's a bummer to hear since I really loved that shit.

Everyone hates it because it makes comedy out of a very weird but fucked up crime, but according to official reports, the weirdest shit in the movie was actually true. Well acted and only one explosion from Michael Bay. IMO his best film since The Rock

The Cat in the Hat
Mostly because it was nothing like the book and how much it tells it to go fuck itself

I thought it was relatively well-received? Not seen it myself, but I'd heard good things.

For me, it's Sucker Punch. It's one of those films that SJWs will think you're alt-right if you don't immediately hate it, but I had a good time watching it and found most people who disliked it couldn't really articulate why except 'enslaved women = bad'.

Phantom of the Opera starring Gerard Butler but that may have been because I watched it when I was young and horny and just wanted a boyfriend.

I actually think Shark Tale is a good movie creepy human fish faces notwithstanding.

Also I liked Godzilla King of the Monsters. But fuck most of its human characters. And there’s something almost funny to me about that movie killing off the one Japanese character in its entire effing franchise.

This movie is a big, dumb fun popcorn flick with sexy babes in it. I never got the hate.

The last half hour of this film is just spectacular.

Alien Resurrection. Not sure why people hate this one so much, it pretty much delivers everything you'd expect in an Alien movie. Plus Brad Dourif, Ron Perlman and Sigourney Weaver. Yea Ripley's return is a little flimsy (to say the least), but it doesn't spoil it for me. Solid popcorn movie.
