I really love Batman V Superman. Generally I don't get the bitching about it. Jesse Eisenberg is absolutely horrible in it but aside from him I thought the film was superb. The score by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL was amazing. It has the best Batman ever. I like the serious tone. Wonder Woman was fantastic. I didn't mind the interpretation of Doomsday. Doomsday was intended as a one-off character created specifically to kill Superman, nothing more than that.

Allow me to sperg for a second: if you hate Doomsday in this movie just because the origin was changed then therefore you should hate Bane in Dark Knight Rises because the character was almost completely changed. Same applies to Two Face in Dark Knight who is definitely not the same Two Face that we know who has a split personality. At no point at all does Two Face in the Dark Knight display any kind of split personality because of that the suit he wears at the end is kind of dumb. Despite that, I still love Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises.

I thought Superman was great. There's a few plot holes and one or two scenes I don't like such as the Justice League tease that was painfully shoe-horned in. But otherwise I thought it was great and better than the majority of superhero flicks out there aside from Guardians.

I also love Robocop 2. It's not as good as the first but it's a really fun action flick that's intentionally funny as hell, gory, and has some amazing action sequences. Plus there's this:

How can you hate this movie?

I actually really liked Joe vs. the Volcano and everyone hates it.

It's a ridiculously dumb movie, the premise is stupid as hell and makes no sense at all.

But it's sweet and harmless and no decent person could hate it.

Doomsday was more like Bane in Batman and Robin

Are you referring to this incredibly well written comic that has zero flaws?

Yes, this happened, Doomsday sees a Wrestling Promo and goes to Metropolis to fight Superman. Let that sink in for a second if you haven't already.

Case closed.

I really like Robocop 2 as well.

Dirty Work

Scrooged

Slither

There's people who hate Scrooged? That's one of my favorite Bill Murray flicks. That and What About Bob.

I've mentioned this before, but I like the 1984 Dune film. I don't know if everyone else hates it though.

That was made by David Lynch. It was actually good, although weird, and nearly incomprehensible.

I am a big time David Lynch fan and I couldn't finish Dune. I tried watching the Theatrical and an extended fan-edit that combined the TV edit with the theatrical. I couldn't follow wtf was going on.

A movie I absolutely hate, that actually enraged me, was Eraserhead. Everyone I know adores it, but I thought it was ugly and horrid for no good reason and absolutely refuse ever to watch it again.

I still really like The Blair Witch Project. I've seen a lot of people talking about how unscary, fake and shit it was but, meh, I don't care. I do have a soft spot for 'found footage' movies in general: Cloverfield, REC, Trollhunter etc. (Paranormal Activity was boring though)

You got your good thing and I've got mine....

Friday the 13th: Part V

To this day, I still love the idea of a Jason copycat killer even though it wasn't explored to its full potential, IMO. And on it's own, it's just a really fun movie. I still laugh whenever I remember that scene where Victim #1200038 is serenading his girlfriend while taking a shit.

Truly iconic.

What kind of a joyless fuck hates Scrooged and Slither?

I fucking love Slither. The effects were terrific and it was just the perfect mix of horror, sci-fi, and goofy comedy. It's right up there with the 1988 remake of The Blob (the first R-rated movie I ever saw, which I also love to this day).

Eraserhead is a masterpiece. I love that film. I'd be curious what you think of Blue Velvet or Wild at Heart.

First time I saw it when it first came out and I hated it. I gave it a second chance and really liked it. Great genuinely effective little film. But when it comes to movies that use the found footage trope Cannibal Holocaust is still the reigning champion.

I genuinely love Friday the 13th part 5 and 9. I think those two are way better than parts 7, 8, and 10.

The 1980's Blob is fantastic. I don't know why people shit on that one.

I don't mean to constantly quote but I see a lot of over-lapping taste when it comes to film with you guys.

Also, I don't know if this counts towards this thread (as it's more of a good-bad movie), but I love Silent Hill: Revelation and have seen it multiple times. That movie is fucking hilarious with it's over-the-top soap opera-level acting, the ridiculous CGI spider, Pyramid Head and a Cenobite having a sword fight, and Malcolm McDowell bee-bopping and scatting like only Malcolm McDowell can (moments before transforming into Super Shredder).

I know it triggered the shit out of fans of the game and people who haven't played the games were just confused by it because they assumed it only made sense to people who have played the games (but in reality, it didn't make sense because it was a retarded movie), but I'm hoping there are other human beings on this planet that can see the humor in it because it's honestly one of the best comedies I've seen in years. It takes a lot, A LOT for a movie to make me chuckle, but Silent Hill Revelation had me laughing my tits off.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. People hated Willie because she's not Marion, but that was the point. Willie served as a contrast to Marion. No one seems to like Short Round, but it was really fun to watch Dr. Jones have a kid for a sidekick as a kid myself. The scene where Indy punches the slave driver in the face to the delight of the slave kids, and the moment the kids run back into their village never fails to make me teary eyed.
