Enter must have the vision of a dog if he thinks writing should be this black and white.
I wonder how he must feel about The Last Airbender or Korra. Korra especially, since she does a lot of pretty dickish things.

I'd reference some anime like Death Note, but we already know that Enter dismisses all animu and mango since it isn't in his interests. >_>

To be fair, avatar is a pretty good show, least in my opinion, however, I won't discuss why I like it. Instead, let's just talk about the guy who can't write for shit yet thinks he's a good author.
Avatar's great, but the spergs treat it as an end-all-be-all for Asian fantasy settings and cartoons in general. It's kind of amazing that Enter likes it, since while it's not as grey as something like Game of Thrones or even Gargoyles, it's fairly grey for a show in its age range.

Since Enter made a new writing tips entry, I figured putting it here would be more fitting than leaving it in the general thread.

He even offers advice on writing things that deal with love. He still manages to sound bitter.
Love Potions
They're date rape drugs. All of them. Every single one in any series ever.

Love Triangle
When characters fight over their shared object of affection it dehumanizes the object of their affection and they dehumanize each other as they keep stabbing each other in the back. All three characters involved end up bland at best or dispicable at the worst. You end up not liking anyone but the one in the center of the love triangle. You don't want either of them to "win." You just want them to stop, by any means necessary.

@Swiggity Swooty: Let me guess. The answer to all these problems is to never use love in your story, ever.

You can use love, just follow Enter's guide on how to write relationships otherwise his asexuality will prevent him from understanding it and claim that you don't know how love works. It's a very common mistake that even professional writers make.

He really hates cliches doesn't he? Just like most people.

I like how he occasionally doesn't understand why cliches exist. It's cliche for a schoolkid bully to have been abused and takes his/her anger out on other kids, but it's cliche because it's a thing that actually happens and bringing attention to it isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I also like how he talks about love and romance and brings up sex repeatedly. A love potion is a sex potion, a love triangle objectifies people, a person falling in love only wants sex. What the heck? It's like his only experience with love is from porn, cartoons, movies and video games.

Didn't his precious pony show have a love potion episode?

Internet/Cell Phones
Unless your story highly involves the internet or cell phones, do not include them. Unless of course to explain why they won't work. They're easy copouts. If you give your character knowledge on how to use the internet effectively, they may as well have omnipotence, so you're going to have to make them knowingly do stupid things. With a cell phone, you can have someone constantly asking for help at all times.

I... I... What?

...not every series needs to be as complex as Avatar.

I know this has been said, but how can Enter rightfully consider himself a critic when the most complex piece of media he's seen is Avatar?

That video says all that needs to be said about Enter's credentials as a writer. Encouraging people to use cliches indicates a grave lack of creativity on the instructor's part. He acknowledges that the whole "characters switching bodies" plot is simplistic, overdone and rarely good but he just tells people to keep going at it. If something like that isn't ever good in concept or execution then you should just avoid it completely. Original ideas make for much more engaging reading if applied correctly.

And yet he also discourages people writing clichés the he doesn't like.
