So me and some other Kiwis were hanging out in the MovieBob thread when the subject of his sycophantic followers came up, and one of them just happened to this guy.

William Carlisle, for those unaware, is an internet film "critic" who spergs about movies online. What sets this guy apart from the rabble though are his massive ego, compulsive lying habit, incessant politisperging in both his reviews and personal blog(s), and incredibly caustic attitude towards film criticism. Here are a few examples of the aforementioned qualities:


TL;DW he claimed Sargon of Akkad said that feminists deserve to get raped, gets called out when he fails to provide evidence, and issues a half-added apology/reatraction.

I was going to post all this before the Farms went down, but then... well, the Farms went down. But now I'm back and ready to rumble.

I've been following this guy on and off since he started his YouTube channel. I originally found him because I was looking for decently-produced Doctor Who video reviews (you have no idea how hard those are to find) and while I never particularly enjoyed his reviews, you have to take what you can get. He hasn't always been sympathetic to SJWs, but he has always been a sperg, and back in the day he was constantly wading into drama and getting in internet slapfights with people.

To be fair, he isn't a total SJW. He made an entire video defending Joss Whedon from allegations of sexism after Age of Ultron:


Although he did pull a massive no true Scotsman by saying the people doing it weren't feminists. Jonathan McIntosh was one of the people doing it and he identifies as a feminist. Respect his pronouns shitlord.

He also stuck by TotalBiscuit despite his support of GamerGate:

But again, we run into problems right away. I'm pretty sure it was more safe to be anti-GG than pro-GG. At least then you had the mainstream media on your side. Do I have to post that wall of harassment TotalBiscuit got as a result of being pro-GG?

I've also heard that he thought ShirtGate was stupid, but I've searched his Twitter and Facebook and haven't found anything to support that. It could be true, but I have no hard evidence to back it up.

One thing the OP didn't mention is that this guy is a serial plagiarist. I don't know if he does it anymore since I don't watch his videos now, but I noticed several blatant cases of theft in his videos. His Revenge of the Fallen review has several similar points to FilmBrain's and he also stole a joke at the end from TFwiki. I mean, everyone and their aunt's reviewed Revenge of the Fallen so coming up with new points is difficult, but at least give attribution if you're going to steal.



There's also several lines in his Doctor Who reviews that were lifted from other sources, either newspapers or review books. I mean, they're quite obscure so it's only an autist like me who'd notice them, but just because most people aren't aware of the plagiarism doesn't mean it hasn't occurred. But hey, he's still got one up on Chris Bores who was dumb enough to copy from a well-known source.

This guy basically is to Bob what Jamil is to Kent. Here are some similarities between him and his hero MovieBob:

Both have a hateboner for The Amazing Spiderman and a loveboner for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Both were anti-GG to a ridiculous degree.

Both politisperg incessantly on social media and in their videos.

Both white-knighted the 2016 Ghostbusters film.

Both didn't like the 19th season of South Park (although MrTARDIS didn't bitch about it making fun of Social Justice).

Both are fat (although this guy's a fucking Olympian compared to Bob).

He might have a leg to stand on if we lived in a world where mystical monks manipulate an all-encompassing energy field to do their will, which includes the ability for their spirit to exist after their physical being has ceased to exist.

Also, why do lolcows love making analogies to real-world happenings with fiction?

After observing this guy for a while, I've basically realised he's a useful idiot of the highest order - he unthinkingly and uncritically accepts whatever's fed to him by Social Justice ideologues if it happens to fit his worldview and biases.

This was around a year or two ago when I was really into reddit my memory's a little fuzzy, but from what I remember I would tweet the guy offering to promote his videos on other subreddits and ask him about participating in the growth of his own fanbase by plugging it on his channel or doing an AMA there. Granted, he did mention it once on his second channel but he had this obnoxious problem of never responding to fan questions or anything until they disagreed with him on something. I would ask about the aforementioned AMA and he'd ignore me but if I said something about him talking about politics too much you'd bet he'd answer.

There was more to this other than my admittedly spergy summary but the general gist was he would pick fights on Twitter and generally ignore anyone who had the foresight to advise him not to ruin his career reviewing Doctor Who episodes by talking about mansplaining or some shit. He also took two years to make his latest review, which is a fucking joke if you ask me.

Another thing I remember is in his apology to Sargon he says "It'd be best if I just shut up about politics." He has since denied ever making that statement.

You can press me for more if you're interest, I could probably go through my suspended Twitter account and find some quite embarrassing arguments from the both of us. In retrospect he probably ignored me about the subreddit because he didn't want his facebook fanpage echo chamber to be disturbed by an environment he couldn't control. Shame for him, I suppose, as another youtuber whose reddit I used to mod extensively was very helpful to everyone there and was overall just way more pleasant than Trilbee. Also helps his content was just much better and was able to get to the front page pretty consistently.

The only context I could give to this is in some tweets I was comparing Trilbee's defence of Sony's Ghostbusters to his rabid hatred of those equally cynical Sony Spider-Man movies. He also claims his last political retweet was "two weeks ago" in one of those, SPOILERS: it wasn't.

He also has this strange tendency to white knight liberal women then say awful things about conservatives like Theresa May. I think that's what he was accusing me of strawmanning him with, but that's par for the course nowadays with male feminists. In hindsight I've had a lot of history with lolcows like Lindsay Ellis and Hbomberguy which are hilarious to look back on now one of them has a criminal record.

I've been watching Trilbee's latest videos, because I'm a masochist.

His newest video starts with him shilling for not only a "geek crate" type website but also virtue signalling for a female Whovian website (which I'm sure will get a thread here when the eventual scandals hit). Trilbee describes them getting backlash "because Doctor Who fans hate the wymenz!" A statement that is drivel in so many ways.

This next video was about the BBC copyright claiming their own video, and since Trilbee is an idiot he decides to put on blast the company that he wants to work for. I wonder why they don't return your calls?
His last video is more ill-handled copyright drama. Trilbee clings to #WTFU because a company struck his 2-4 year old "Nut Job" video that no one watched.

Holy fuck this Dalek video is fucking shit, here's a quick rundown of things he unironically says:
  • "The Daleks don't draw in ratings."
  • "Jodie Whittaker is hated because of her gender."
  • "Neo-nazism is prevalent in modern society so the Daleks shouldn't be brought back."
  • "The Daleks are like Johnny Depp."
Comments from his fans are featured at the end of the video and they all have really exceptional names like 'Darth Trump' and 'SonicTheTimeLord.'

This guy's the funniest YouTuber I've ever watched.
