Mumsnet - the number one site for overprotective mothers, made by overprotective mothers!

  • Order for the new server will be going in ASAP. Performance will be rocky until then (rip).

Mumsnet is a forum that bears the honourable distinction of being the United Kingdom’s most popular website for parents! In other words, it is a website where pearl clutching mothers gather together to discuss the evils of the world corrupting their families, such as smartphones, pornography and of course, Fortnite.

Mumsnet was founded in 2000 by Justine Roberts, who realised that a forum to discuss parenting advice was needed after finding out that taking her one year old twins abroad on holiday somehow was not a good idea. Since then, the website has grown to receive over 10 million unique visitors every month.

Before venturing into the depths of shrieking Karens, one of the things that may confuse a visitor at first glance is their acronyms for their family members and friends. No, DD does not mean breast size to Mumsnetters, but Darling Daughter. The same goes for DH (Dear Husband), or DS (Dear Son). My personal favourite is EWCM, which stands for egg-white cervical mucus. Why would you ever make an acronym of this, let alone speak those words you may ask? I don’t know and I fear to find out why. You can find a full list of acronyms below:
https://www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms
https://archive.li/koQYm

The most common acronyms you may come across are most likely going to be AIBU (Am I Being Unreasonable), YABU (You Are Being Unreasonable) and YANBU (You Are Not Being Unreasonable). This comes from the most popular board on Mumsnet, the Am I Being Unreasonable board. Yes, that’s right, Mumsnet beat reddit’s /r/AITA to the punch for this type of board, except instead of fake stories for karma, this board is a haven for Mumsnetters patting each other on the back for their overbearing helicopter parenting. Just take a look at these people’s reaction to the satanic video game Fortnite:

It’s not just the Darling Children that are causing stress for these poor mummies' lives though. There’s always those dastardly Dear Husbands, up to their old tricks as vile males. One of the most frequent topics regarding these women’s husbands is that of if watching pornography is cheating, or if it is OK. It’s quite a divisive topic on Mumsnet, with at least there being some women who are sensible about it. However, the ones who cry hysteria about it are incredibly entertaining in their delusional reasons.

A truly philosophical quote for the ages

What makes many threads though, is not just those users who flock to defend the insane OPs, but the ones who come to shut them down:

I’d recommend checking out their search tool https://www.mumsnet.com/info/search to have a look for some insanity for yourself. Honestly, the sky’s the limit with keywords. Mumsnetters bitch about everything. Enjoy your visit, Darling Kiwis!

Wasn't there a thing for awhile where Mumsnet users were making KiwiFarms accounts to talk about TERF shit awhile back?

idk if you're trying to start a fight but I've already got the popcorn cooking.

EDIT: looking through their acronym list.

how the fuck are those two things related and why are they the same acronym?

also, why publish a list of all your site's slang in the first place? isn't that just inviting posers and trolls by the legion?

My God this is great. I bookmarked the site, it's a goldmine.
Here's some stuff I found at a cursory glance:
Apparently the Mums cannot fathom that their family consumes pornography.

I hate to break it to you ma'am, it might be that you aren't attractive anymore.

11 year-old looked up 'naked people' and found porn? She must be being abused. I understand the worry here, but to jump straight to abuse is kind of strange.

No watching THOTs, that's cheating.
Lovely, here's what I found searching 'weed':

I would hate to be that kid. I understand the Mum here, but the idea of not knowing that a 13 year-old kid is blazing is kind of funny.

Last but not least, "The Story of the ASD Lolicon":

That's not good in the land of the Anglo. Lolicon, that is. Also fuck South Park.

And there he goes, off to wherever the popo put cripplingly autistic 20 year-old lolicons.

I did notice there were a few threads on happenings of Mumsnet from the last few years before I posted this. Just thought I'd make a thread that could be a potential Community Watch thread, as I do love visiting the site from time to time for a good old giggle.

This is my first time submitting a thread so if any of you guys have any criticisms or things I can do to improve the OP let me know!

who dare wins?

Thats pretty fucking awful if it really is just lolishit.
THe son clearly is suffering from advanced autism or somebody other disability, with the worst kind of parenting possible. I honestly feel like shit for him considering British police arrested someone for being critical about sadiq khan.

My God this is great. I bookmarked the site, it's a goldmine.

That 11 year old has the worst fucking parents possible, most reasonable people would probably teach them what sex is but BRITBONGISTAN parents are utterly fucked so they turn their kids lives into a living hell, but still this is pretty fucking funny.

Does anyone remember the mumsnet post that ended up getting heavily circulated on 4chan where a mom was jerking off her young son every day in order to fix his bent dick? This was a few years ago.
Was the good boy points from mumsnet as well? I felt like they were intertwined

Ehn. It’s a parenting site. Some bits of it are really good and supportive, some bits are sarcastic and funny and some bits of it are shriekingly insane. There are several MNers here, simply because you’re not allowed to say certain things in there, or the trans mafia will shriek until you’re banned.
AIBU is generally hilarious, lots of it is just bait posting, like AITA on reddit I guess.
The tranny mafia are constantly trying to take MN down. They’ve been threatened with the courts multiple times and Justine got SWATTED. The advertisers have been mobbed. Despite all the crazy speech restrictions it’s still the only place on the regular person web where you can even slightly hint you’re not a fan of drag queen story time without being banned immediately. People like Tony Halliday, joss prior etc have a ‘mumsnet monitor’ group - MN were dumb enough to allow external non users to report posts by twitter a while back and so anything even vaguely Troon-critical gets reported. Three reports held up and the user is banned.
Anyway I’m fond of MN, it’s funny and supportive and quite a lot of MNers are rather fond of the farms and are able to laugh at themselves.

Look up Brian from hull and his free yoni massages if you want a laugh. Edited to add link in... https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/1729276-Yoni-Vaginal-Massage

There’s a also Netmums - (I know, people’s front of Judea ..) which is MN for those who love sparkly tickers. Hun.
