I assumed those tweets couldn't possibly be real, but they are. Did he not exploit Gamergate for profit? That's what his internet 'career' is based off of. No one would have cared about him otherwise. And it was not just people on the right, but leftists too. Isn't that why they were attacking people like Anita? The theory that he's trying to be accepted by people like Vaush and other Breadtubers doesn't seem that far fetched. Back in 2016-2017 when media was busy demonizing Bannon one of the things they picked up on was that he sent some email to Milo about pursuing the gamer story since it could lead some people to the right. The media people that were learning about this then connected it to gamergate and decided the entire scandal was actually Bannon playing puppetmaster to use his fake news site Breitbart to turn everyone into far righters. It helped that the MSM imagined all stories on Breitbart was "fake news" much as they imagined everything about gamergate was.

Matt is right that gamergate and wider "culture war" movements are all just outrage mob gifter bs, but he is 4-5 years too late in saying this. No one that isn't a pathetic grifter views gamergate as anything but a dumb joke. Matt will never regain his popularity as all he does anymore is just course correct into doing different popular bland uninspired content. At least he was at the front of the GG stuff now hes giving his bland coat of paint to the highly saturated real life horror/mystery content. I imagine Matt will try to get in cozy with the wider internet left as a "convert" and talk about the GG-to-fascism pipeline like TJ Kirk did with Vaush. Gamergate was Matt's only breath of positive relevancy so I cant imagine he'll let it go so easily.
