I don’t know. Watching him fall off the golf cart, lose a fight over a TV with his sassy home health aide, and his brother and father referring to his feeder wife as a “hooker porn star” seem to be examples of God’s love to me.
Sorry this took so long this episode was just extremely boring.
Working on next recap now, but the series has become almost a chore to watch hopefully this next one has something interesting since it opens with CPAP.
Gotta love the messy room and the vast amount of wigs that dont seem to really fit her.
She has moved in with family cause she cant do thing son her own. Has a caregiver and her niece she uses for help.
First meal:
Looks to be a 12 piece family meal: Twelve pieces of our signature chicken, 2 Large Sides & 6 Biscuits. As well as a chicken sandwich and a drink.
Parents divorced at 5 because mother left abusive father. She said they went to church daily wehre she was able to eat until she threw up. She blames her mom for enabling her to gain weight as a child. 140 lbs by 10/11. 250 by 14. At 16 got with an abusive man and states that she felt lucky to have anyones interest so stayed with him. Had first baby at 17 and immediately got pregnant again and boyfriend left. Up to 350 lbs now. From 19 to 21 she lost her mom, dad, older sister and aunt and this lead to her being homeless because of course she never worked or fended for ehrself. She ended up living in a bus stop with her 4 year old (No talk of what happened to the one she was pregnant with after he was born) Ended up in shelter that taught her to take care of her son and one of the people she met there became her caretaker. She ended up dating someone at shelter and having another baby knowing doing so would get her kicked out of the shelter. by 24 500 lbs. by 30s 600. Slept around to have a place to stay and had 3 more kids (Up to 4 now plus one mysterious missing one) Became alcoholic then turned to drugs. Lost kids to CPS because of her "addictions." She got sober to get them back but is still over eating. Her kids are with family and she can't get them back unless she loses weight.
2nd meal : Arrives right after first meal is done is burger king.
3 XL sodas, 3 or 4 large double/triple cheese burgers with all fixings, 4 large fries.
She wears no underwear so they keep having to blur out her crotch. "Even if I'm full i keep eating so no one else can get it." Sad fact is its obvious she'd rather sit here and gorge herself then get her children back.
The only son she has left states he wants to have a life and a career, but hes stuck having to bathe and help her since she is almost bedbound from overeating.
First weigh in: 604 lbs.
When asked by Now what she has done she says nothing. That when she did go for help she never went through with any of it. Her plans are to do what she needs to do ot be a better prseon and better mother to her kids. He realzies shes being enabled by Cameo and others. Cameo used to be her caregiver and has no turned into an enabling friend.
Goal : 60 lbs in 2 months.
She calmly tells him she passes out every day just from coughing. She had been told this is due to her weight but even that did not get her to change.
Month 1:
Specialists confirmed her lung issues are due to her weight. Entire side of her house dress is ripped open to fit.
3rd Meal : Made by Cameo
Scrambled egg whites and turkey sausage. Irene thinks it has no taste.
Cameo helps with her exercises and asks for goals one is to have sex.
Month 3:
2nd weigh in : 598 lbs, 6 lb recent loss, 6lb total loss
She really must want her kids back to do so poorly... She thinks losing 6 lbs shows dedication and commitment to losing weight. "I think I still have an issue with what i eat still, you know i have this issue." She's been sneaking food in addition to the meals Cameo makes. Hallway Now says she has to wake up and take it seriously.
Goal : 60 lbs in 2 months.
Month 4 :
Cameo is now forcing her to be more independent.
4th Meal :
2 Chicken Breasts with bunch of seasoning and shreded cheese on top with brocolli.
Month 5:
Her rambling is just making this so boring with added filler.
3rd weigh in : 591 lbs, 7 lb recent loss, 13 lb total loss
Now asks why she didn't do the work needed and she states well its hard. She says she'll try harder and Now asks why she hasnt already. He offers up a therapist and she says shes tried it before and it didn't work. She tells Now she needs just ONE MORE CHANCE! Now used to actually threaten to kick these people out of program...it's been ages since he did so.
Goal : 60 lbs in 2 months.

Cameo and her brainstormed and came to the conclusion that adding extras to all her meals maybe was an issue. She states she cant do the exercises Now gave her because there is no room (the pictures of her apartment living room is a LARGE open area) and she thinks maybe walks would help.
Her and her neice go to take a walk on her apartments paths and she huffs and puffs and lays down on some random persons car with all her weight.
Month 13 : Covid Skip
She states that since Cameo can't come over anymore she didnt get the support she needed. She also seems to have given up on even trying to lose weight before Covid became and issue.
5th meal :
steamed Fish fillet and brocoli with shredded cheese.
She keeps talking about how nothing can work unless she gets surgery. She says she'll show Dr Now shes commmited when they have their appointment. She's calling Dr Now to ask for an appointment in two months cause if he gives her one more chance she knows she can do it.
Now informs her therse no excuse to use covid as a reason to eat so much. Remember she has 3 children she has no custody of unless she makes herself healthier that she seems to not care about at all. Now gives her another chance because hes being a softy this season. It's like they wont allow him to kick people out anymore.
Goal : 60 lbs in 2 months.
Month 14:
She's finally gonna take it seriously and go to gym. Treadmill was kinda funny she immediately started being pulled off the edge at the lowest speed and they had to hold her onto it.
She states she has to take a break because she has asthma and broncitis which she has never mentioned before.
Month 15:
4th weigh in : 535 lbs, 56 lb recent loss, 69 lb total loss.
Approved for surgery. But it will take a few months due to being elective.

Goal : Lose at least 10 lbs a month until surgery.

She doesnt look any smaller if any she looks larger.

Did anyone watch the Tammy Patton episode last week? I saw it on satellite the day after airing.
I liked her. She made a fair amount of progress and it looked like she was heading in a good direction at the end of it, somewhat impeded by the pandemic, which is understandable. IIRC she wasn't that whiny.
Her "sob story" is actually pretty unique. She had 2 (or 3?) kids over a few years with a guy named Victor. They broke up but remained friends and he wanted to be a good dad. Victor's new girlfriend ends up stabbing him to death because she was jealous of any time he spent with Tammy and his kids; she was worried he would go back to her. Apparently she'd rather him be a deadbeat and have nothing to do with his kids and/or verbally abuse his baby mama every time they talk. She'd been overweight beforehand but it got worse after he died.
In the ep she goes to Victor's grave for the first time to make peace and then she starts the progress.

Loved seeing the roaches on the wall (in two different scenes) at Chrystal's house. The floor around her fat nest was disgusting, took a while to discern whether it was a pattern on the rug or just filth.

Chrystal was a mess. I felt really bad for her kids though. They looked miserable the entire episode. . The fact that Dr Now called her out on her nasty smell in front of her kids was cringey as fuck. In the beginning there was a dog that made Brianna Wu’s dogs look well taken care of but it disappeared when they moved to Texas.

The Other Half and I both commented on the fact there was no shower nor any other washing scene at the beginning of the episode. He later pointed out the "irritation" on her neck from the oxygen cannula and I said, Nah dawg, that's not rash, that's filth, and Dr. Now proved me right.
All of these fatties smell, but it takes a certain level of stink for Dr. Now to make specific mention of it. Chrystal joins the likes of Steven Assanti, Sean Milliken, and Jeanne the Poop Queen in the Dr. Now Calls Out Your Shitty Hygiene club.

TLC probably does pressure him to not kick out any of the "stars." But remember these aren't his only patients.
Undoubtedly. I'm sure some idealistic people watch this show purely for the good feels journey of someone losing weight, but I'd wager there's a larger audience to be found in watching the openly resistant and non-compliant patients. Many probably fall somewhere in-between.
