My cat's eye is discharging brown fluid -

When I first adopted my kitten (now a grown cat), she was perfectly healthy except for one minor detail: her left eye discharges a thin watery brown fluid from her lacrimal duct. It has a tendency to build up into a crusty eye booger clinging to her nose.

The vet we got herfrom said she'd grow out of it and that it is likely just a minor allergy or something. But I'm now a couple years later and her eye is still constant leaking.

I'm not too worried, given that she doesn't seem to be bothered by it, and that it's not sore to the touch (no swelling or purulent discharge). That being said, I am wondering if this is serious enough to go to the vet.

Problem with that is I'm super duper poor and a vet trip would be very difficult. So I'd like some input on whether this is something I should start panicking over and going to the vet ASAP, or if I'm safe taking a wait and see attitude.

Unless the eye in question is visibly irritated, or the discharge is causing the lid to be gummed shut, I wouldn't worry too much. Some cats are just innately leaky - I've seen cats that 'weep' like this before, and they've been fine with it.

I should add that I'm not a vet, I just grew up around cats.

Unless it suddenly gets worse or your cat seems bothered by it, I'd just wait until you take her in for her next shots and ask the vet again.

I've heard this is good.

It tasted slightly similar to pork, yet full of weird little transparent fish like bones and with an ever so slight tinge of sour aftertaste.

I will say one thing, the boneless chunks were a lot easier to eat than the little boney pieces. The cat intestines were surprisingly good, tender and flavorful – some of the best intestines I’ve had.

I've thought about maybe making a sauce out of the eye discharge. It's already brown, and certainly salty. I might have to wait until it gets infected though to get the flavor just right. A little pus goes a long way.

It was actually quite pleasant. Not to salty, not too watery. I fully recommend tasting your own tears. For best results, milk your lacrimal duct right when you wake up and sample the discharge. Bone ape tit.

My mom's dog has the same problem since she was a tiny pup. The vet said it was a slight congenital malformation of the duct; the eye just doesn't drain as well as it should.

He told her to wipe it clean once a day with some warm water with a little tear-free baby shampoo in it. He said the crusty eye bogey is uncomfortable and is likely to make her scratch at the eye, which could damage it, so it needs to be kept clean.

The dog has been fine for nearly a decade on this regime.

I have absolutely no idea if this will help your cat, but I'm passing it on just in case.

She's gotten to where she likes the hot rag on her eye. It probably gets a little itchy and irritating. She gets all purr crazy when I turn on the sink and grab a washcloth.

Is the discharge worse than usual? Is it possible she has a wee scratch on the eye and it's got infected?
