So the news cycle in the UK today is making light of the governments post Covid economic recovery scheme which seems to amount to: "Lost your job? Get a job!" Alongside some super well received adverts telling highly trained people working in the arts to go work in IT like a proper person, there's a quiz that advises you on your ideal career which you can find here: https://beta.nationalcareers.service.gov.uk

Naturally I have been advised (as I've always known) that my ideal careers are Head Chef, Actor and Freelance Stun Man. I am apparently the love child of Gordon Ramsey and Tom Cruise.

My question fellow Kiwis is what should you guys be doing for a living that you're not. What's your full potential?

I got everything from meat packer (I'm a vegetarian) to psychiatrist to football referee (sure, an old woman is going to referee football) to research scientist (when I specifically answered that math was not my strong suit). All in all, it was a pretty accurate assesment. Not to get too much TMI, but 4 out of 10 of their recommendations were in fields I have experience in.

I got the following 10

Manufacturing: I said I wasn't interested in building things, but alright.
Science and Research: I'm terrible with science, but I picked the math answers a lot so 50/50
Sports and Leisure: I have no idea where this came from. This category is also super broad from an athelete, to a gambling bookie, to
someone who operators a projector at a movie theater.
Teaching and education: Eh I can sort of see where it got that, but I'm not a children person.
Computers, tech, digital: This is so broad that it is worthless, it also has business analyst for some reason like ???
Government Services: No.
Hospitality and Food: How broad, I tried answering the follow up questions and it said I should be a chef, a head chef, and a cake decorator. One of these things are not like the other...
Retail and Sales: I said I wasn't much of a people person, why the fuck would you put me in sales?
Administration: Alright finally something I actually studied to be I just had to read 8 categories of crap. Although this one also has Data Entry clerk which was in Computers/Tech earlier. Also one of the careers is "Bilingual secretary" like ???
Managerial: Fine enough it isn't terribly different from administration as they're mostly business/economics jobs although I liked seeing "Farmer" here which stood up like a sore thumb from all these office jobs.

If I didn't already study something that I like, this quiz would have taken me down so many wild goose chases that I would probably be 40 by the time I got to what I actually like right now.
