Why does he have a katana in the first place?

I've got a couple swords, but they aren't cheap wall hangers like his. One is a family heirloom and is a Civil War Union Officer's Saber that was issued to one of my ancestors. Sadly things like Anime, Highlander, the Walking Dead, and many other mediums have convinced nerds that the Katana is the be-all-end-all when it comes to edged weapons. Frankly I'll take my firearms over a sword any day.

Firearms are nice so long as you have ammo. As for a malee weapon, I'd go French sword or Spanish mace. French swords are good for slashing and (unlike katanas) pretty good for stabbing. The mace is good because its short and doesn't require accuracy. If you miss, just swing again.
If brony over there tried to fight a zombie, he'd swing down full body like a retard, miss, and his head would be at hands reach for mister zombie. Guess katanas aren't kewl after all.
EDIT: retard... hands....oh word filter.
Also a Gladius is an apprioate sword for zimbies.

Same. It's really sad the weebs think the katana is the pinnacle of swords because it's from fuckmothering Japan. Even though I've had training in kendo, I'm more interested in handling Western weapons. I honestly think I'd take a Western blade over a katana since these things can seem take a beating more and still do the job.

But to be honest, I never actually used a real blade for either of them... so my opinion is kinda moot.

Every year at the county fair there are one or two stalls set up with Japanese imports that are pretty hard to miss. I basically ignore these stalls because 90% of the items for sale are Naruto related junk and cat ears. Most of the remaining 10% tends to be "weapons". Fake, random katanas, daggers, and various throwing stars. They're obviously anime inspired, but they're not replicas from any series (that I know of). I've always wondered if anybody buys anything from those stalls. This guy certainly looks like he did.

You can buy cheap katana on amazon for 40-50 bucks. They say they're sharp, but I'd like to see the weeaboos sharpen it once it gets dull.

Since we're talking about swords, my dad has his cadet saber from his time at West Point. It isn't sharp, and new cadet sabers are 200-300 bucks, so it goes to show you the difference in quality between a real sword and some weeaboo plaything.

Doubt he actually knows how to swing a katana. There is a trick to it, as the blades are quite fragile in reality. They are made of pig iron, not steel. One good swing and it would break. I'd prefer a fire axe during a zombie apocalypse. Effective, sturdy and quite the multitool.

I'll admit to watching Power Rangers to my friends (the existence of bronies helps), but I'm not going to defend my actions like this bozo. It's not deep or life-changing. It's people in spandex fighting guys in monster suits, with bad to okay acting, and sometimes has a decent story. I like it because it helps me relax and syncs with my childhood nostalgia.
